SSC Stenographer Exam
Updated : 16-Jun-2017All India Open Competitive Examination for Recruitment to the posts of Stenographer Grade C and D are conducted by Staff Selection Commission. These exams are conducted in computer based mode. First of all, The Commission releases recruitment notice. Candidates need to apply online for the exam. Aspirants under SSC Stenographer recruitment are recommended for appointment by the Commission on the basis of total marks in the written examination. However, those qualifying the written examination are called for the skill test which is qualifying in nature. Candidates are provided an appointment in various Ministries/Departments of Central Government to the post of Stenographer Grade C and D.
SSC Stenographer Eligibility Criteria
Candidates interested in applying for SSC Stenographer Group C and D exam need to fulfill the necessary eligibility criteria as given below. The candidates need to satisfy his or her eligibility as per the educational qualification, nationality and age limit.
Nationality:
A candidate must be either:
An Indian citizen, or a subject of Nepal, or a subject of Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January,1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, East 2 African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Zaire, Tanzania, Zambia, Ethiopia, Malawi and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Age Limit:
Candidates should be in between 18-27 years.
Educational Qualification
Candidates should have passed higher secondary or equivalent from a recognized Board or University.
SSC Stenographer Application Form 2017
Application Forms for SSC Stenographer exam should be submitted in online mode. The SSC Stenographer application form is made available in June. The last date to apply for the exam is July mid. Application Fee can be paid through SBI Challan/ Net banking using credit and debit cards. For General Category, application fee is Rs 100/-. However, women and SC/ST/PWD/Ex-servicemen candidates are exempted from payment of fee.
SSC Stenographer Exam Centers
SSC will conduct the SSC Stenographer exam across various 86 exam cities spread throughout the country. No request for change of SSC Stenographer Exam Centers will be entertained under any circumstances. Candidates should enter their choice of exam centers while filling up the application form. The candidates will have to select the centers carefully in their applications.
SSC Stenographer Admit Card
All candidates who apply successfully, are issued Roll Numbers for SSC Stenographer exam. The SSC Stenographer admit card is made available region-wise for downloading at least two weeks before the commencement of examination. The admit card is not sent by post to the candidates. If in any circumstances, candidate is unable to download his/her admit card before the examination should immediately contact the concerned regional/sub-regional office of the Commission with details such as registration id, transaction id of SBI, copy of challan etc. to obtain the admission certificates.
SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern
The SSC Stenographer exam is consisted of computer based test (CBT) and skill test in Stenography. As per the SSC Stenographer exam pattern, the CBT will consist of one objective type paper comprising of three parts: General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, English Language and Comprehension. The total marks allotted for written exam is 200 marks. There is negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer. Candidates who get the qualifying marks in the CBT will only be called for skill test. The Commission fixes qualifying marks in each part of the written examination. The skill test is qualifying in nature. In the Stenography Test. Candidates are given one dictation for 10 minutes in English / Hindi at the speed of 100 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade, C and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade, D.
SSC Stenographer Syllabus
The SSC Stenographer Syllabus covers all the important topics from general intelligence and reasoning, general awareness, English language and comprehension. The reasoning topics includes both verbal and non-verbal type. Topics in the general awareness have been designed to test the ability of the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society.
SSC Stenographer Result
The SSC Stenographer result is declared in November. The marks of both qualified and non-qualified candidates will be made available within a week from the date of declaration of result. The skill test will be qualifying in nature and SSC will fix the qualifying standards in the skill test for different categories of candidates. Only the marks obtained in the written examination will be considered for the final merit list.
SSC Stenographer Selection Procedure
Candidates are allocated to the post of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and Stenographer Grade ‘D’ in various service/departments/cadres within the post on the basis of merit-cum-option.
