On 8 June which day is celebrated - World Oceans Day
Among Important National Current Affairs, on 8 June 2016 The World Oceans Day is being observed globally every year with aim to raise global awareness of the current challenges faced by the international community in connection with the oceans.
The day is also celebrated to provide a unique opportunity to honour, protect, and conserve the world’s oceans.
However, 2016 Theme is: “Healthy oceans, healthy planet”. This theme highlights main urgent need to curb the plastic pollution.
Why is ocean important?

Who released World’s 100 Most Powerful Women 2016 list – Forbes
Among Important International Current Affairs, on 6 June 2016 Forbes released the list of World’s 100 Most Powerful Women of 2016 showing those women who impacted businesses, media, philanthropy, politics and many more.
However, the world’s most powerful woman in the list is a German Chancellor Angela Merkel who fetched the first spot for the sixth consecutive year.
Four metrics which were analysed to prepare the list- money (net worth, company revenues or GDP), media presence, spheres of influence, and impact.
Which state will host Men’s Hockey Junior World Cup 2016 – Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh)
Among Important Sports Current Affairs, on 7 June 2016 The International Hockey Federation which is also known as FIH declared that men’s Hockey Junior World Cup 2016 will be played in the Indian city of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
Between 8 December and 18 December 2016, the men’s Hockey Junior World Cup 2016 will be played.
The list of the qualified teams are Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Egypt, England, Germany, India, Japan, Korea, Netherlands, South Africa, New Zealand, Pakistan and Spain.
RBI rates unchanged in 2nd bi-monthly monetary policy review for year - 2016-17
Among Important National Current Affairs, for year 2016-17, The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in its second bi-monthly monetary policy review has managed to maintained status quo in key policy interest rate.
However, the key policy interest rates were keep on changing on the basis of an assessment of the current and evolving macroeconomic situation in the country. RBI has also kept its stance on the credit policy accommodative.
International Monetary Fund approved 1.5 billion US dollar loan to - Sri Lanka
Among Important International Current Affairs, on 7 June 2016, The International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved 1.5 billion US dollar loan to Sri Lanka.
However, IMF has transferred 168 million US dollars already as the first Instalment with immediate effect to support the country’s economy.
The Executive Board of the IMF also accepted this 36-month extended arrangement under its Extended Fund Facility (EFF) with Sri Lanka under special drawing rights.
Facebook India appoints whom as Managing Director - Umang Bedi
On 7 June 2016, Facebook India announced Umang Bedi as its Managing Director (MD).
Umang Bedi will take over this charge from Kirthiga Reddy. Reddy will be soon returning to the US to take on a new role at the company’s Menlo Park headquarters.
Bedi will also officially start at Facebook in July 2016 while Reddy will take up her new role in August 2016.
