Water Resources Information System launched by which state – Telangana

Among Important National Current Affairs, on 6th August 2016 Telangana State Government launched a unique Water Resources Information System to assess accurate reserves of water in thousands of Tanks and reservoirs across the state.

However to make this system successfully, the Telangana Irrigation Department signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indian Space Research Organization over sharing satellite data.

Which country launches Tiantong-01; its first satellite for mobile telecommunication – China

Among Important International Current Affairs, on 6th August 2016 China has successfully launched its first satellite for mobile telecommunication, named as Tiantong-01.

This Tiantong-01 satellite was launched from southwestern China's Xichang Satellite Launch Center, with the Long March-3B carrier rocket. More geostationary satellites will be sent into orbit for the system.

Tiantong-01 is the first satellite of China's homemade satellite mobile telecom system, and a key part of the country's space information infrastructure.

On 7 August 2016 which day was observed across the country - 2nd National Handloom Day

Among Important National Current Affairs, on 7th August 2016, 2nd National Handloom Day was observed across the country with the main function being held at Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. On this special occasion, Sant Kabir Awards and National Handloom Awards were presented.

The Day was also celebrated at state level in all the states and Day was also celebrated in more than 200 handloom clusters.

By Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the first National Handloom Day was inaugurated on 7 August 2015 at the Centenary Hall of Madras University in Chennai.
