Which state becomes first Indian state to give pension and food benefits to transgenders – Odisha
Among Important National Current Affairs, in the first week of June 2016 Odisha became the first Indian state to give transgender people social welfare benefits, such as a pension, housing and food grains.
State Odisha took this step with the aim to give the transgender community the same benefits as those living below the poverty line.
This step is also aimed at improving their overall social and economic status.
Know About Transgender –
• Transgender are those people who experience a mismatch between their gender identity, or gender expression, and their assigned sex.
• These people are sometimes called transsexual also, if they desire medical assistance to transition from one sex to another.
Who won 2016 French Open Women’s Singles tennis title - Garbine Muguruza
Among Important Sports Current Affairs, on 4 June 2016 Garbine Muguruza of Spain won the French Open Women’s Singles tennis title for the first time at the Roland Garros stadium in Paris, France.
Garbine Muguruza, at the age of 22 grab this Grand Slam title by defeating Serena Williams of the USA in straight sets 7-5, 6-4 in the final match.
After this win, Muguruza also became the first Spanish woman to win a Grand Slam title since Sanchez-Vicario in Paris in 1998.

• Tennis player Garbine Muguruza, is a Venezuelan-Spanish professional who represents Spain in tennis competitions and turned professional in 2012.
• Muguruza has won total three singles titles, most notably the 2016 French Open where she beat world number one Serena Williams in the final.
World’s first 3D printed plane THOR unveiled by – Airbus
Among Important International Current Affairs, THOR, which is the world’s first 3D-printed aircraft was unveiled by European aerospace company, Airbus at the International Aerospace Exhibition held in Schoenefeld, Germany.
The THOR is known to be short for Test of High-tech Objectives in Reality.
THOR resembles a large, white model airplane but is windowless too.

Right to Public Grievance Redressal Act launched by - Bihar CM Nitish Kumar
Among Important National Current Affairs, on 5 June 2016 Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar launched Right to Public Grievance Redressal Act. This act seeks disposal of peoples' complaints or redressal of grievances from Government officials within 60-days.
Nitish Kumar announced this day as a historic day in the field of governance and administrative reforms as the Bihar Public Grievance Redressal Act is being launched. It was on this day that JP gave a clarion call for total revolution from Patna’s Gandhi Maidan.
