Which portal has been launched by GAIL for satellite monitoring of Pipelines - Bhuvan-GAIL Portal
Among the important National Current Affairs, In last week of November 2015, an innovative surveillance geo-portal called Bhuvan-GAIL portal was launched by GAIL (India) Limited to monitor the pipeline Right of Use (RoU) through satellite.
National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), a unit of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) launched the portal in collaboration.
Currently, monitoring of pipeline ROU was carried out through Helicopter surveys over 13000 Km of Pipeline network. By January 2016, with the help of space technology, GAIL will start live satellite monitoring of the pipeline RoU.
Highlights of the portal
- Alerts will be sent to the appropriate executives via SMS and email regarding the modification along the ROU.
- Apart from this, GAIL also developed an innovative mobile application from which the pictures of the exception taken locally from any mobile describing the actual scenario can be uploaded instantly to the portal.
International Volunteer Day observed on - 5th December
Among the important International Current Affairs, On 5th December 2015, The International Volunteer Day (IVD) was observed across the world with the theme "The world is changing. Are you? Volunteer!".
The day is a occasion for volunteers and organizations to celebrate their efforts, to share their values and to promote their work among their communities, United Nations agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), the private sector and government authorities.
It also pays special tribute to volunteers working to execute the targets.
China's first electricity-powered aircraft RX1E approved for production
Among the important International Current Affairs, On 4th December 2015, Civil Aviation Administration of China approved the production of China's first domestically developed electricity-powered aircraft known as RX1E.
It will be the China's first manned electric light aircraft and Shenyang Aerospace University will develop RX1E electric light-sport aircraft.
Characterstics of the RX1E electric light-sport aircraft
- It is poweredby lithium batteries and is a two-seater plane.
- It has the ability of flying a maximum altitude of 3000 meters.
- It can fly for 45 to 60 minutes with a charging time of 90 minutes.
- it can be useful in pilot training, sightseeing tours.
