    Twitter's head of Asia-Pacific- quits

    Aliza Knox, Twitter’s head of Asia-Pacific business announced her retirement from the company in the first week of April 2017. Knox’s exit from the micro-blogging site comes on the back of the loss of a number of high-profile Asia-based executives in 2016, including Managing Director for Southeast Asia, India, Middle East and North Africa region Parminder Singh, India head Rishi Jaitly, China head Kathy Chen and Australia country boss Karen Stocks. Knox was Twitter’s first hire in Asia (Japan not included) when she joined the company in 2012. Twitter runs its Japan business separate from its APAC operations. Before joining Twitter, she spent five years at Google.

    The youngest person to address Canadian Parliament - Malala

    The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau announced on 3rd April 2017 that the youngest Nobel laureate, Malala Yousafzai, will be addressing the country’s parliament on 12th April 2017. The young Pakistani activist will also be receiving her honorary Canadian citizenship.

    • Canadian Prime Minister announced that 19-year-old Yousafzai will be the youngest person to address the country’s Parliament. 
    • Trudeau also added that he would be discussing girls empowerment through education with Yousafzai on the occasion. 
    • Yousafzai was targeted for her advocacy for women’s education at the age of 15 when she was shot in the head by Taliban militants while returning from her school.
    • She won world praise with her campaign for female education and human rights advocacy.
    • She is one among those six people to receive honorary Canadian citizenship.
    •  In response to the invitation by the Canadian Prime Minister’s office, Malala stated that the Canadian people are leading the world in their response to the refugee crisis and she is honoured by Parliament's invitation and looks forward to visiting this great nation of heroes.
