Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Bill, 2016 approved by - Union Cabinet

Among Important National Current Affairs, The Union Cabinet has finally approved the Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Bill, 2016 to improve road safety scenario in the country. 

This bill is meant to amend Motor Vehicles Act (MVA), 1988 and proposes to hefty penalties against violations of road safety rules as a deterrent measure. 

Do You Know – 

• The bill amends existing 68 sections of MVA, 1988 which has total 223 sections. It also proposes addition of 28 new sections. It deletes Chapters 10 and replaces Chapter 11 provisions with new set of provisions to simplify third party insurance claims and settlement process.

Who resigned as Managing Director of JM Financial Ltd - Nimesh Kampani

On 3rd August 2016, Nimesh Kampani has resigned as the Managing Director of JM Financial Ltd with effect from 30 September 2016. 

However, Kampani will continue to be the Non-Executive Chairman of the group and a director on the board of a few group companies at JM Financial.

From 1st October 2016, Nimesh Kampani will be succeeded by his son Vishal Kampani as the Managing Director of JM Financial.

Who is selected for Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award - Shubha Mudgal

 Among Important Entertainment Current Affairs, singer Shubha Mudgal has been selected for the prestigious the 23rd Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award 2016. 

She will get this award for her outstanding contribution towards the promotion of communal harmony, peace and goodwill. 

Know About Shubha Mudgal – 

• Shubha Mudgal is a popular Indian singer of Hindustani classical music, Thumri, Khayal, Dadra and popular Indian pop music. 

• Shubha Mudgal was also awarded the 1996 National Film Award for Best Non-Feature Film Music Direction for ‘Amrit Beej’. 

• In 2000, she was also honoured with Padma Shri Award.

LG is the administrative head of National Capital Territory - Delhi HC

Aadhaar-linked e-Signature facility launched to - Digitise Documents

On 3rd August 2016, online legal documentation startup LegalDesk.com launched the electronic signing feature eSignDesk that will allow people to sign documents digitally from remote places.

However, with over a billion Aadhaar cardholders and about 25 million transactions taking place every quarter, digital signatures are expected to save time, money and paper.
