Which organization signed MoU to strengthen business ties with FICCI - AIBC

To promote business ties with FICCI (The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry, AIBC (Australia India Business Council) has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), on 1 April 2016.

In the presence of the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, this agreement was signed during the Invest in India Round Table Conference in Melbourne, Australia.

• The signing of the MoU is a great milestone in the bilateral relations between the two organisations and will certainly have a positive impact and add tremendous value to the business relations between the two countries.
• The main of this agreement is to modernize the ongoing relationship between the two organizations to further promote, facilitate and grow the trade and investment relationship between Australia and India.

Who has won Silver at Asian/Oceania Qualifying event in China – Shiva Thapa

Shiva Thapa who is an Indian boxer, won silver medal in the 56 kilogram category at the Asian/Oceania Qualifying Tournament in Qian'an, China, on 1 April 2016.

In the semi-finals, Thapa defeated Kazakhstan’s Kairat Yeraliyev and earn the medal.

After this win, Thapa who is only 22 years old became the first Indian boxer to book a seat in the Rio Olympics.

• Shiva Thapa is an Indian boxer from Guwahati, Assam, India. He is supported by Anglian Medal Hunt Company,  a company that supports young Indian athletes towards international competitive success, with an especial aim at the Olympics.
• Shiva Thapa participated in the 2012 London Olympics,[4] and was the youngest Indian boxer to qualify for the Olympics.
• Shiva Thapa is ranked 3rd in the bantamweight category in the AIBA Men's World Ranking. He is the third Indian to clinch Gold at the Asian Games.

Which organization acquired UPI-based payments start-up PhonePe – Flipkart

On 1 April 2016, E-commerce giant flipkart announced that it has acquired payments start-up PhonePe Internet Pvt. Ltd.

In December 2015, the start-up PhonePe was launched by former flipkart executives Sameer Nigam, Rahul Chari and Burzin Engineer.

• Phonepe is building a product where payments can be made by just using mobile number.
• The idea for PhonePe was seeded while the co-founders were working for a top e-commerce company, where they closely experienced the complexities of existing payment methods affecting both the customers and businesses.
• PhonePe main goal is to make digital payments so easy, safe & universally accepted that people never feel the need to carry cash or cards again.
