Union Government to provide 1 lakh Rupees per month to - Rio-bound Athletes
On 25 April 2016, Union Sports Ministry announced to provide one lakh rupees per month as out of pocket allowance to the sports persons under the Target Olympic Podium (TOP) scheme.
However, this allowance will help the sports persons in their preparation for the Olympics and Paralympics Games at Rio de Janeiro, which is all set to start in August 2016.
Till date, 77 Indian athletes in eight disciplines have qualified for the Olympics and many more are likely to qualify in the next coming two months.

This Target Olympic Podium scheme is a sports ministry initiative under which Olympic medal prospects are funded by the government for top class training as part of their preparations for the Games.

On 26 April 2016, The World Intellectual Property Day was observed across the world with the theme Digital Creativity: Culture Reimagined.
On the day of World Intellectual Property day WIPO works together with various government agencies, non-government organizations, community groups and individuals to hold different events and activities to promote this day.
Know About World Intellectual Property Day -
• The World Intellectual Property Day is celebrated on 26 April 2016 every year.
• This event was established by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in 2000 to "raise awareness of how patents, copyright, trademarks and designs impact on daily life" and "to celebrate creativity, and the contribution made by creators and innovators to the development of societies across the globe".
Union Government constitutes which committee for doubling farmers’ income by 2022 - Ashok Dalwai Committee
By the year 2022, The Union Government has recently constituted 8-member inter-ministerial committee to prepare a blueprint for doubling farmers’ income.
Ashok Dalwai, who is an Additional secretary at the Union Agriculture Ministry, the committee will be headed by him only and is expected to submit the report in two months. Its members will include officials from Agriculture and Food Ministries, experts from the Delhi-based National Council of Applied Economic Research and National Institute of Agricultural Economics and Policy Research.
Which two player named FPAI Player of the Year - Mohun Bagan, Jeje Lalpekhlua
On 25 April 2016, Professional football club Mohun Bagan and India striker Jeje Lalpekhlua won the Football Players’ Association of India (FPAI) Indian Player of the Year award at its annual awards function, which held in Mumbai.
Among all Jeje Lalpekhlua received the highest number of votes from fellow professional footballers to finish on top in the shortlist which included India captain Sunil Chhetri, Bikash Jairu, David Lalrinmuana and Dhanachandra Singh.

• An Indian footballer, Jeje Lalpekhlua who currently plays for Chennaiyin in the Indian Super League.
• Lalpekhlua scored the only goal in a win against Afghanistan in the SAFF Cup group stage match in Bangladesh.

Which country will host 2018 Commonwealth Judo Championships - India
On 25 April 2016, The Judo Federation of India (JFI) declared that India has been allotted the Commonwealth Judo Championships 2018.
On 23 April 2016, By the Commonwealth Judo Congress at Port Elizabeth, South Africa allotted The Commonwealth Judo Championships to India.
For the first time Commonwealth Judo Championships is going to be held in India.

Banharn Silpa-archa, the former prime minister of Thailand, was died at the age of 83 on 23 April 2016 in Bangkok.
In the 1990s, his scandal-ridden tenure a Prime Minister preceded the Thailand’s economic collapse.

• Banharn Silpa-archa, who was a Thai politician, was the Prime Minister of Thailand from 1995 to 1996.
• Before Banharn became a Member of Parliament representing his home province of Suphanburi, he made a fortune in the construction business.
• In 1994, Banharn became the leader of the Thai Nation Party. In 2008, the party was dissolved by the Constitutional Court and Banharn was banned from politics for five years.
In which state BPCL got environmental clearance for 694 crore rupees LPG project - West Bengal
On 25 April 2016, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) got green nod for its 694-crore rupees project at Haldia Dock Complex in West Bengal.
However, this is the project of developing LPG import terminal as well as storage, bottling and bulk distribution facilities.
By 2018, the proposed project aims to boost supply and help to achieve the government’s target of making LPG available to each household.

• BPCL which is known as Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, an Indian state-controlled oil and gas company headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
• This Corporation operates two large refineries of the country, which is located at Mumbai and Kochi.
