    ‘#Childline1098’ contest launched by - WCD Ministry

    The Ministry of Women and Child Development has launched a contest, '#Childline1098' to mark the World Day against Trafficking in Persons on July 30th, 2018.

    This contest is inviting people to share images of the Childline 1098 logo that they spot at unique locations with a tagline. According to the WCD Ministry, the main objective of the online contest is a means to connect with the citizens and engage them in spreading information about the initiative towards curbing trafficking.

    Important Details

    • Childline is India's first 24-hour, free, emergency phone service for children in need of assistance, which is operational at 450 locations at present.
    • The last submission date is 30th July 2018, and these can be shared on [email protected] or on MyGov
    • Contest's full details are available on the Facebook & Twitter accounts of Ministry WCD (@MinistryWCD).

    MoU was signed between the Ministry and Railways to rescue and rehabilitate runaway, kidnapped, abandoned and trafficked children through the Railways. According to activists, there are about 17 million victims of human trafficking in India and 40.3 million globally, as per the latest report.

    India inked four MoUs in various fields with - Uganda

    During the Visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India and Uganda inked 4 MoUs on 24th July 2018. These cover the areas of defence, diplomatic ties, cultural exchange and material testing laboratory.
    PM of India also announced two Lines of Credit worth nearly USD 200 million to Uganda. PM also offered to build a commemoration centre in Kampala in memory of Mahatma Gandhi.

    Important to mention here that it is the first ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Uganda and Rwanda in over 20 years and PM Narendra Modi became first ever Indian PM to deliver the keynote address at the Ugandan Parliament.
