DRDO successfully test fires – Guided PINAKA
Among Important National Current Affairs, on 24th January 2017 DRDO which is commonly known as the Defence Research and Development Organization has successfully test fired the Guided PINAKA from Launch Complex-III at ITR, Chandipur.
However, Guided PINAKA is the enhanced version of PINAKA Rocket Mark-II which has been equipped with navigation, guidance and control kit.
India, UAE signed how many agreements – 14
Among Important International Current Affairs, India and the UAE (United Arab Emirates) inked 14 agreements in various areas to boost bilateral cooperation between both countries.
However, these agreements were signed after delegation level talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and visiting Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan in New Delhi.
Here, the Crown Prince who is Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces is on a three-day visit. He is also the chief guest of 2017 Republic Day Parade.
National Action Plan for Children, 2016 released by - Union Government
Among Important National Current Affairs, The Union Ministry of Women & Child Development (WCD) has finally released National Action Plan for Children (NPAC), 2016 on the occasion of National Girl Child Day which was observed across the India on 24th January.
However, it was released by Union Minister of Women & Child Development Meneka Sanjay Gandhi in New Delhi. The NPAC has been also developed by the Ministry of WCD.
Who has been confirmed as US envoy to the United Nations – Nikki Haley
Among Important International Current Affairs, on 24th January 2017 The United States Senate has confirmed Nikki Haley as the next Ambassador to the United Nations.
However, with this she will become the first Indian-American to serve on a cabinet rank position in any presidential administration.
Well, the Senate approved Haley, the South Carolina Governor, on a 96-4 vote.
Earlier also, Senate Foreign Relations Committee had approved Haley’s nominations as the next US Ambassador to the UN.
7th National Voters’ Day observed with theme – Empowering Young and Future Voters
Among Important National Current Affairs, on 25th January 2017 the 7th National Voters’ Day was observed across the country by the Election Commission of India.
However, the main theme for the 7th National Voters’ Day is ‘Empowering Young and Future Voters.’
Here, the Commission’s objective through NVD is to increase enrolment of voters, especially of the newly eligible ones.
