Who will be chief of guest at Pravasi Bharatiya Divas - Portuguese PM Antonio Costa

On 21st November 2016, Ministry of External Affairs announced that Prime Minister of Portugal Antonio Costa has accepted the proposal be the Chief Guest at the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas. It will be 14th edition of this event.

Also Vice President of the Republic of Suriname, Michael Ashwin Satyandre Adhin will be Special Guest at the Youth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas.

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas will be organized from 7 January to 9 January 2017 at Bengaluru in Karnataka and Youth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas will be held on 7 January 2017.

South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley was named - UN envoy by Donald Trump

Among International Current Affairs, On 23rd November 2016, South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley was named as US Ambassador to the United Nations. This news became important as Haley opposed Trump during the campaign.

Nikki Haley is daughter of Indian immigrants and  has served America as the 116th Governor of South Carolina since 2011.

Three sets of regulations under Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 were notified by - IBBI 

Among Important Banking Current Affairs, On 23rd November 2016, IBBI notified three sets of regulations-

• (Insolvency Professional) Regulations, 2016,
• Regulations inter alia provide for registration,
• Regulation and oversight of insolvency professionals.

Above regulations were notified under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 and will come into effect from 29 November 2016.

Who won 2016 CPJ International Press Freedom Award - Malini Subramaniam

Among Important Awards, On 23rd November 2016, Indian journalist Malini Subramaniam won International Press Freedom Awards at Waldorf-Astoria in New York City.

Apart from her, three more journalists won this award these are :

• Mahmoud Abou Zeid (Egypt),
• Can Dündar (Turkey) and
• Oscar Martinez (El Salvador).

This prestigious award was given to these journalists as they had put their lives and freedom under risk to report critical news events.

Tianlian I-04 satellite was launched by - China

On 22nd November 2016, China launched the Tianlian I-04 satellite from the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre. 

This satellite was developed by the China Academy of Space Technology. This satellite is aimed to relay data, measurement and control services for China's manned spacecraft and also will support measurement and control support for spacecraft launches.
