First commercial flight of Arunachal Pradesh lands at Pasighat under scheme - UDAN
The 1st 42-seater ATR aircraft of the Alliance Airlines commercial flight of Arunachal Pradesh under UDAN scheme landed at Pasighat airport in East Siang district. This historic moment sets border state on the aviation map of the nation.
Key Points- Alliance Air, will manage flight services on Kolkata-Guwahati-Pasighat pathway three-times in a week, including Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
- Pasighat airport is on advance landing ground, meant to support operations of small airplanes and few military aeroplanes.
- This commercial flight connectivity initiates fresh vistas of economic development in the district and also deliver abundant openings for tourism industry of the state.

UDAN Regional Connectivity Scheme was initiated in October 2016 to advance the regional aviation marketplace.
It is dynamic component of the National Civil Aviation Policy, 2016.
It objectives are to make aviation inexpensive by providing connectivity to non-served and less-served airports of nation via revival of present airports so that inhabitants in regional towns can enjoy econimic flights.Did you know ?
Arunachal Pradesh already has 120 heliports and 10 Advanced-landing parklands, which are constructed for military and civil procedures. Under UDAN scheme, 8 locations in border state have been carefully chosen by bidders. Out of which Pasighat and Tezu have been identified for fixed wing. Ziro, Daporijo, Itanagar, Tuting, Wallong and Yingkiong have been identified for helicopter services.
UAE launches 10-year residency visa programme for exceptional talents on - 20th May 2018
The UAE adopted a new system of entry visas, on May 20th , 2018, according to which it would be dispensing long-term residency visas for up to ten years to international investors and ‘exceptional talents’ including professionals and students. The declaration was announced by the country’s Cabinet during a high-level meeting led by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and the Ruler of Dubai.
Talking on the occasion, the PM of United Arab Emirates stated that the Gulf Nation will continue a global incubator for excellent talents and an enduring destination for international investors.
United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Economy has been instructed to implement the resolution in synchronization with the related parties and follow up on its progresses and present a detailed investigation in the 3rd quarter of 2018.Key Highlights :
- The fresh system will expand the chances of fascinating investors and competencies, cumulative the nation and economic competitiveness worldwide.
- The system will permit 10 years residency visas for experts in medical, scientific, research and technical fields, as well as for all researchers and innovators.
- While 5 years residency visas will be issued to the students studying in the United Arab Emirates, the ten years visas will be issued to brilliant students.
- UAE will also permit overseas corporations to own 100% of their business in the country.

Sony to buy EMI Music Publishing in USD 1.9 billion deal on - May 22nd, 2018
Sony Corporation proclaimed to obtain EMI Music Publishing which is one of the world's largest music producing companies, in a US 1.9 billion dollars deal, on May 22nd , 2018.
EMI is the 2 nd largest music producing company by income and grips the rights to 2.1 million pieces of music together with classics by the likes of Queen, Sam Smith, Pharrell Williams and Drake. The deal enhances a catalogue of above two million songs to Sony's mega list, which already retains 2.3 million copyrights, including the Beatles directory.
This achievement is Sony's 1st major deal under its new-fangled CEO Kenichiro Yoshida. Previously this month, Sony’s music also inked US 185 million dollars deal to purchase shares in the Peanuts company.

AB de Villiers announces retirement from all forms of cricket on - 23rd May 2018
Star South Africa batsman AB de Villiers announced his decision to retire from all forms of cricket with immediate effect on May 23rd, 2018.
He made the announcement through a video message, where he said that he had "run out of gas." The 34-year-old batsman said that the time was right for him to hang up his boots,
and to bring a close to his exceptional 14-year career.Important Highlights
- He has played a total of 228 ODIs, 114 Test matches and 78 T20 Internationals.
- He signed off his career with a staggering 20,014 international runs that too include 8765 in Tests, 9577 in ODIs and 1672 in T20Is and a batting average of more than 50 in both Tests and ODIs.
- He would, however, continue to be available for the Titans in domestic cricket.
- He is regarded as one of the greatest batsmen of all the time.
- AB de Villiers holds the record for most Test innings that too without registering a duck .
- AB de Villiers was also a three-time ICC ODI player of the year, who won the award in 2010, 2014 and 2015.

HD Kumaraswamy sworn in as Karnataka Chief Minister on - 23rd May 2018
JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy was sworn in as the 18th Chief Minister of Karnataka on May 23rd, 2018. The ceremony of swearing ceremony was conducted at 4.30 pm on the steps of the state secretariat, Vidhana Soudha. Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala administered the oath of office and secrecy.
Important Highlights
- Karnataka Congress leader G Parameshwara has been sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka.
- Among Karnataka’s 34 ministries, 22 would be going to the Congress and the remaining 12, including the post of the Chief Minister, will be held by the JD(S).
- However,expected to be held on May 25th, 2018, will decide the seats.
- The post of the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker would also be evenly divided. While the Speaker will be from the Congress, his deputy will be from the Janata Dal Secular.
- The JDS leader has sworn in as the Karnataka Chief Minister for the second time in 12 years.
