Custodian of the Year 2014 award bagged by Deutsche Bank
On 15th November 2014, Custodian of the Year 2014 award was bagged by Deutsche Bank. Head of Custody and Fund Solutions for Deutsche Bank Channel Islands Lisa Haggarty recevied this award at a ceremony held in London.
The Custody Risk European Awards were organised by the Incisive Media Group with an aim to identify the best companies in custody, fund administration and technology across Europe.
Noted Mathematician Alexander Grothendieck passed away
Noted Mathematician Alexander Grothendieck passed away recently in France at the age of 86. He was considered among the greatest mathematical minds in algebraic geometry of the twentieth century.
In 1966 he was honoured with Fields medal which is most prestigious honour in the field of mathematics. Though earlier he worked on Functional analysis but later he became interested in algebraic geometry in the mid-1950s.
India's growth forecast raised to 6.6 percent by OECD for 2015-16
On 19th November 2014, Indian Economy got a good news as Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) raised India's growth forecast to 6.6 percent for the financial year 2015-2016.
Vivek Sood to take over as new CEO of Uninor
On 19th November 2014, Uninor announced the appointment of Vivek Sood as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). It is important to mention here that Uninor is the local arm of Norwegian telecom operator Telenor. He will be succeeding Present CEO Morten Karlsen Sorby who earlier has announced to resign from the post but he will be serving as an advisor until 1st Jan 2015.
India govt approved signing of three SAARC agreements
On 20th November 2014, Union Cabinet which was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the signing of three important SAARC agreements. These three agreements include :
- SAARC Regional Railways Agreement (RRA)
- SAARC Framework Agreement for Energy Cooperation (Electricity)
- SAARC Motor Vehicles Agreement

Delhi Stock Exchange de-recognised by SEBI
Among the important financial current affairs on 19th November 2014, Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI) de-recognised Delhi Stock Exchange (DSE). SEBI took this action after the allegations of serious irregularities on DSE. This order of SEBI will be applicable with immediate effects.
As per SEBI observation DSE was carrying out its activites in a manner contrary to the interest of the investors.
DSE was incorporated in 1947 and is located in New Delhi, India.
