International Day of Yoga 2016 observed on - 21st June 2016

Among Important Day Current Affairs, On 21st June 2016, The International Day of Yoga was observed across the globe. Theme of event was "Connect the Youth".
Many events were organised across the globe. Prime Minister himself did yoga at an event in Chandigarh.
Important to mention here that PM Narendra Modi initiated this during his address to UN General Assembly on 27th September 2014, after that on 11th December UN General Assembly adopted resolution to observe 21 June as the International Day of Yoga every year.
Yoga has its deep roots in India as it is not only a physical exercise but also a spiritual practice.

Name of food additive which was banned by Union Government - Potassium Bromate

Amoing Important rulings, On 20th June 2016 FSSAI recommendation to ban use of potassium bromate (KbrO3) as a food additive was implemented by Union Govt. FSSAI recommended this after it was found that potassium bromate is a cancer causing chemical.
FSSAI made this recommendation after a study of Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) which classified it as category 2B carcinogen which can cause cancer.
This was used is many available brands of pre-packaged breads. Potassium iodate (KIO3) was also marked in this category.
Important to mention here that in many countries it is already banned.

Which Kannada movie won Best Film Award at 19th Shanghai International Film Festival - Thithi

Among Entertainment Current Affairs, Thithi which is a Kannada movie was awarded with best film award under Asia New Talent Awards Category at 19th Shanghai International Film Festival. Movie also won Best Script Writers award.
Thithi is a light hearted movie made by non professionaly actors from Karnataka which has a story about reaction of three generations about someone's death.

Which supercomputer was declared as world's fastest - China's Sunway TaihuLight

Among Important Technology Current Affairs, On 20th June 2016, Chinese supercomputer Sunway TaihuLight was declared as world's fastest supercomputer. It has a speed of  93 petaflop/second. Top 500 supercomputers list was released at International Supercomputing Conference (ISC) in Frankfurt, Germany.
As fas as India is concerned 8 Indian supercomputers made in list.

Indigenous basic trainer aircraft HTT-40 was created by - HAL

On 17th June 2016, Public sector aerospace Hindustan Aeronautics Limited unveiled Basic Trainer Aircraft (BTA) HTT-40 which is made indigenously.
It is a two seater aircraft which is designed and developed by HAL and it has a Turbo Prop engine of 950 shp class.
It will be very useful for India as it will be used in first-stage training for all flying cadets of the three services. It is expected to clear operational formalities by 2018.

Name of village of Andhra Pradesh which was chosen for development as smart village - Mori

On 19th June 2016, Andhra Pradesh's village Mori which is located in East Godavari district was selected to develop as smart village. This village will be have a self contained sustainable business model.
Village will be having fibre optic connectivity and all homes will be have connection of 15 Mbps link apart from  24*7 power supply.
Innovation Society of the Andhra Pradesh Government has partnered with University of California at Berkeley, Google, Cisco, IBM, Ericsson for this project.
