Renowned Author and Journalist Khushwant Singh died
Renowned Author and Journalist Khushwant Singh died at the age of 99 on 20th March 2014. He was very well known for his witty, fearless writings. Mr Khushwant Singh was born on 2nd Feb, 1915, in Hadali [Now in Pakistan].
He was confered with Padma Bhushan [1974] and Padma Vibhushan [2007] by government of India.
His autobiography, "Truth, Love and a Little Malice", was published by Penguin Books in 2002.
Few of his writings are "Train to Pakistan", "I Shall Not Hear the Nightingale" and "Delhi - A Novel". At the age of 95 he wrote The Sunset Club.
SEBI issued new norms to ease KYC details for investors
Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) notified a new set of norms to ease the process of Making Know Your Client (KYC) for investors on 20 March 2014. This will allow various market entities like brokers and Mutual Funds to get details from the centralized KYC agencies, instead of carrying out a fresh KYC verification procedure.
This facility will allow the market intermediary to access the centralized KYC Registration Agency system in the case the client is already KYC complaint to verify and download the client’s details from the Agency's system.
Important to note :
KRA is the institution that maintains the KYC details of the investor and the wholly-owned subsidiaries of stock exchanges and depositories are eligible to act as KRA.
Aditi Khanna became first women President of IJA
On 20th March 2014, Aditi Khanna was unanimously elected as President of Indian Journalist's Association (IJA). She was elected in London.
The most important to note about this current affair is : Aditi Khanna is first women President of IJA in 67 years of history.
Aditi Khanna is the London based correspondent for the Press Trust of India.
Rupanjana Dutta, the Associate Editor of Asian Business Publication was appointed as its general secretary of IJA.

New Molecule HSP90 discovered
A new molecule Heat Shock Protein 90 (HSP90) with potential to kill malaria parasite was discovered in the second week of March 2014. The new discovery could help in effective treatment of malaria. The discovery was made by the researchers from the University of Geneva led by Didier Picard.
