Who has been elected as 54th Speaker of US House of Representatives - Paul Ryan

Among the important International Current Affairs, On 30th October 2015, Republican Paul Ryan was elected as the 54th speaker of the US House of Representatives after receiving the votes of 236 members by the full House of Representatives. He has replaced John Boehner of Ohio.

Ryan sworned in as the Speaker of the House on his own copy of the New American bible and kept the gavel he wielded as Chairman of the powerful tax writing committee.

After John Boehner and Nancy Pelosi, Ryan became the third Catholic in a row. Earlier in 1992, Ryan had worked on Capitol Hill as a legislative aide and won his House seat in 1998.

To whom the status of whistle-blower has been given by European Parliament - Former NSA contractor Edward Snowden

Among the important International Current Affairs, On 29th October 2015, former contractor of NSA Edward Snowden has been given the status of whistle-blower and human rights defender by the European Parliament.

The resolution advised 28 member states of the European Union (EU) to desert any criminal charges against Edward Snowden.

In accordance with a April 2014 resolution of the Committee of Ministers on protection of whistleblowers, the resolution was passed. Legal protection is offered under the resolution to workers who unveil illegal and unethical practices executing at workplace.

Edward Snowden is presently under Russia’s asylum and facing violation charges in USA for disclosing classified information which he collected while working as National Security Agency (NSA) contractor.

As per annual report by Brand Finance, India stands on which spot in Nation Brand - 7th most valued nation brand .

As per the new report compiled by Brand Finance, India has secured seventh position as most valued nation brand. India moved one step ahead to get seventh spot by an increase of 32 per cent in its brand value to USD 2.1 billion.. If we talk about top spot then it went to U followed by China and Germany. UK is at 4th place, Japan is at fifth place, France is at sixth place. Do You Know : If we talk about increase in precentage then with 32 per cent increase, India is at top among top 20 countries

WTA women doubles title at Singapore was lifted by - Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis
