Three mega hydro projects in Himachal Pradesh has been inaugurated by - PM Narendra Modi
Among Important National Current Affairs, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated three hydro-electric projects (HEPs) with a generating capacity of 1,732 MW in Himachal Pradesh.
However, all the three power projects are equipped with generating equipment supplied and commissioned by state owned Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL).

Who will be be honoured with Chaplin Award by Film Society of Lincoln Center - Robert De Niro
Among Important International Current Affairs, in the second week of October 2016 only, The Film Society of Lincoln Center has declared Robert De Niro as the recipient of the 44th Chaplin Award.
However, De Niro will be presented with this award at an award gala which is going to be held on 8th May, 2017.
Know About Robert De Niro –
• Robert Anthony De Niro is a well known Italian-American actor and producer.
• Till now he has been starred in over 100 films.
• Also, he was cast as the young Vito Corleone in the 1974 film The Godfather Part II, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
India completes nuclear triad by commissioning - INS Arihant
Among Important National Current Affairs, India has finally completed its nuclear triad by inducting the first indigenously built strategic nuclear submarine INS Arihant into service.
However with this, now India becomes fourth country to have a nuclear triad i.e. capable of delivering nuclear weapons by aircraft, ballistic missiles and submarine launched missiles.
Except India, the other countries who are having nuclear triad are Russia, United States and China.

• In August 2016, INS Arihant was formally commissioned by Navy Chief Admiral Sunil Lanba.
• Also it was kept secret owing to strategic significance.
Indian wrestlers win four medals at - 2016 TAFISA World Games
Among Important Sports Current Affairs, four Indian wrestlers have made all the Indians feel proud as they have won four medals individually including a gold medal, at the sixth edition of the TAFISA World Games held in Jakarta, Indonesia.
However, Wrestler Dalmiya had won gold medal in 60kg category by defeating Azerbaijan’s Muhammad Sahan by 4-1 points in the final match. Whereas, the other medal winning Wrestlers are Luv Singh, Naveen Kumar and Josil.
Ashok Leyland rolls out first India-made - Electric Bus
Among Important National Current Affairs, Conglomerate Hinduja Group’s flagship company named as Ashok Leyland has unveiled country’s first 100 percent indigenously made electric bus, which are non-polluting and have zero-emissions.
However, these buses were unveiled in lines with National Electric Mobility Plan which aims at a 20% penetration of electric/hybrid (eco-friendly) vehicles by 2020.
They also enjoyed a subsidy under the Central government’s Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid) and Electric Vehicles (FAME) scheme.
Who has been appointed as India’s Ambassador to UN Conference on Disarmament - Amandeep Singh Gill
Amandeep Singh Gill, who is a senior IFS Officer, was appointed as the India’s Ambassador to the UN Conference on Disarmament, Geneva.
Amandeep Singh Gill is an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer of 1992 batch. From 2007 to 2008, He had also represented India on the UN Secretary General’s Panel on Missiles.
However besides this, he was also a member of the Indian delegation to the Conference on Disarmament during the negotiations on the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT).
