    Who has became first Indian footballer to score 50 international goals - Sunil Chhetri

    Among the important Sports Current Affairs, On 16th June 2015, the first Indian footballer to score 50 international goals was Sunil Chhetri. The triumph was achieved during India's second match of the second round of qualifiers for 2018 football World Cup qualifying group match against Guam at the Guam National Football Stadium. Although India was defeaed by Guam.

    Who has became first 100% blind officer in IFS - Beno Zephine

    Among the important National Current Affairs, On 12th June 2015, Chennai’s NL Beno Zephine became the first 100 percent visually-challenged person to be inducted into the Indian Foreign Services (IFS).

    External Affairs Ministry informed Beno about her induction into the Indian Foreign Services. Currently, Beno is serving as a probationary officer in the State Bank of India.

    Her civil service examination was cleared in 2013. She took help of software named Job Access with Speech (JAWS), which was a replacement of Brialle for the prepration of exam.

    Who is appointed as Chairman and Managing Director of MTNL - Narendra Kumar Yadav

    Among the important appointments, On 16th June 2015, Narendra Kumar Yadav took charge as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the state-run telecom operator Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) with effect from 8th June.

    MTNL informed this in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

    Yadav has replaced PK Purwar, who was given additional charge of the post after the retirement of company’s CMD AK Garg.

    In June 2015, The book Recasting India: How Entrepreneurship is changing the world's Largest Democracy written by Hindol Sengupta was released.

    The author explains in the book, the emergence of new class of entrepreneurs in India, in recent times, especially from geographically and socially disadvantage spaces.

    He reproduces the application of the New Economic Policy (NEP) of 1991 and subsequent economic reforms in last two and half decades as the reason for this phenomenon.

    The book was nominated for one of the world's most renowned prizes in economic writing, the Hayek Book Prize, given by the USA based Manhattan Institute in February 2015.

    He has also became the youngest writer ever to be nominated for the prize and the first ever from India.

    Among the important National Current Affairs, On 16th June 2015, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj flagged off the first batch of pilgrims for Kailash-Manasarovar yatra that will travel through the Nathu La pass.

    Piligrims visit Mount Kailash and the Manasarovar Lake located in the south-western corner of Tibetan Autonomous Region (TAR) of China during the yatra.

    After China gace nod to open the route following a bilateral agreement signed in September 2014 during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to India the pass was reopened.

    Chinese authorities closed the pass in 1962 following a war between the two countries. It is located 54 km away from Sikkim’s capital Gangtok and was part of the ancient silk route.

    Among the important appointments, On 16th June 2015, The International Boxing Association (AIBA) constituted a five-member ad-hoc committee to manage the process of finding a group to organise and run boxing in India.

    An international referee who officiated in four Olympics, Kishan Narsi, was appointed as the Chairman. He has been serving as the Vice-Chairman of Executive Committee of AIBA.

    Other members of the committee include Injeti Srinivas, Manisha Malhotra and Jay Kowli. Besides, Randhir Singh, senior IOC member and former IOA Secretary General, was appointed as an advisor of the ad-hoc committee by AIBA.

    Name the party whose recognition has been suspended by Election Commission of India (ECI) - National People's Party (NPP)

    On 16th June 2015, The Election Commission of India (ECI) suspended the recognition of National People's Party (NPP) in Meghalaya as a state party. Former Lok Sabha Speaker PA Sangma heads the NPP.

    The decision was made in substitute of its failure in filing the election expenditure statement related to 2014 Lok Sabha general elections within the prescribed limit of 90 days.

    Under the powers vested in the 16A of the Election Symbols (Reservation and Allotment) Order, 1968, the ECI took this decision. It expresses that the commission can suspend or withdraw recognition of a recognised political party, either national or state, for its failure to observe Model Code of Conduct or follow lawful directions and instructions of the commission.

    One Rank, One Pension scheme for ex-servicemen

    Among the important National Current Affairs, On 16th June 2015, The One Rank, One Pension (OROP) scheme for ex-servicemen was likely to be rolled out ahead of the Bihar Assembly polls 2015.

    According to The One Rank, One Pension scheme, the retired soldiers of the same rank and length of service will receive the same pension, nevertheless of when they retire. In 2014, the scheme was laid out, but due to some technical calculations and interpretations it was not implemented yet.

    The scheme will benefit especially those who retired before 2006, as pensioners who retired before 2006 draw less pension than their counterparts and even their juniors.

    The scheme will benefit all three services- Army, Navy and Air Force. The NDA Government in its 2015 Budget announcement allotted 1000 crore rupees for the scheme.
