Indian men football team got Stephen Constantine as head coach
On 16th January 2015, Stephen Constantine was appointed as the head coach of Indian men's football team. Both the senior and under-23 football teams will be supervised by him. He succeeded Wim Koevermans of Netherlands who resigned in October 2014 earlier. Stephen Constantine is from England and has also served as Indian team coach from 2002 to 2005.

13th Parsvanth International Grandmasters Chess Tournament title won by Andrey Baryshpolets
On 16th January 2015, Ukrainian Grandmaster Andrey Baryshpolets lifted the title of 13th Parsvanth International Grandmasters Chess Tournament. He defeated Deepan Chakkravarthy of India in the 10th round of tournament which was held in Delhi.
Book on Sonia Gandhi, The Red Sari written by Javier Moro released
On 16th January 2015, an unauthorized biography of Congress Party President Sonia Gandhi titled "The Red Sari" was released by Roli Books in India. This book is written by Spanish author Javier Moro and this book
This book also examines the lives of the famous Nehru-Gandhi family set against the backdrop of the Bangladesh War, the Emergency, Operation Blue Star, and other events that have shaped modern Indian history.
Sania Mirza and Bethanie Mattek-Sands lifted women doubles title of Sydney International
On 16th January 2015, Duo of Sania Mirza and Bethanie Mattek-Sands of US lifted the women's doubles title of the Sydney International Tennis Tournament.
This Pair defeated top-seeded Americans Abigail Spears and Raquel Kops-Jones by 6-3, 6-3 in the final clash played in Sydney.
This was the first title for Sania this year and in total it was 23rd career title for Sania.
Deep Kumar Upadhyay appointed as Nepal's ambassador to India
Among the important appointments On 16th January 2015, Nepali Congress leader Deep Kumar Upadhyay was appointed as Nepal's ambassador to India as this post was vacant since 2011. In the cabinet meeting headed by Nepal's Prime Minister Sushil Kumar Koirala decision was taken on his appointment.
He has also served as an assistant finance minister of Nepal.

Among the Important Sports Current Affairs, On 15th January 2015, Australian captain Mark Knowles was named as the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Player of the Year 2014 in men category and Midfielder of the Netherland Ellen Hoog was named as the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Player of the Year 2014 in women category.

- Joyce Sombroek of the Netherlands was named as Goalkeeper of the year in Women category,
- Gonzalo Peillat of Argentina was named as Rising star of the year in Men category,
- Florencia Habif of Argentina was named as Rising star of the year in Women category,
- Argentine Max Caldas, Coach of the Netherlands team was named as Women's Coach of the year and
- Australian Ric Charlesworth, Coach of Australia team was named as Men's Coach of the year.
Sydney International Tennis tournament title lifted by Petra Kvitova
On 16th January 2015, Petra Kvitova of Czech Republic lifted the women's single title of Sydney International Tennis tournament after defeating Karolina Pliskova of Czech Republic by 7-6, 7-6 in the final.
Petra Kvitova who is holding World No 4 rank, won her 15th career title.
