India’s first Nuclear Suppliers’ Insurance Policy unveiled by – INIP

Among Important National Current Affairs, on 12th August 2016 The India Nuclear Insurance Pool (INIP) has successfuly unveiled India’s first Nuclear Suppliers’ Insurance Policy.

However, on behalf of the pool New India Assurance Company Limited and INIP will issue the policy and administer the claims too.

• The INIP has become now the 27th such insurance pool in the world as countries lists includes France, Russia, South Africa and the U.S. have put in place such similar risk transfer mechanisms.

Which player wins gold in 3000m steeplechase at Rio Olympics - Ruth Jebet

Among Important Sports Current Affairs, on 15th August 2016 Bahrain’s Ruth Jebet grabbed the gold medal in women’s 3000 metres steeplechase. It is Bahrain’s first ever Olympic gold medal.

However, Jebet won the race in the second-quickest time in history. She also clocked a time of eight minutes 59.75 seconds, narrowly outside of Russian Gulnara Samitova-Galkina's world record of 08:58.16.

Whereas, Kenya’s Hyvin Kiyeng Jepkemoi grabbed the silver medal in the event and American Emma Coburn won the bronze.

World's first Quantum Communication Satellite launched by – China

Among Important International Current Affairs, on 16th August 2016 China has finally launched the world's first quantum satellite named Quantum Experiments at Space Scaler (QUESS) satellite. 

This satellite was launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in the remote northwestern province of Gansu.

The main aim of this satellite is to help establish hack-proof communications between space and the ground.

Hindustan Copper Limited inaugurated nickel production facility in – Ghatsila

Among Important National Current Affairs, on 10th August 2016 Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) has inaugurated the Nickel, Copper and Acid Recovery Plant of Hindustan Copper Limited at Indian Copper Complex, Ghatsila in Jharkhand.

However, this is the first facility in India to produce Nickel metal of LME grade from primary resource.

Italy’s Elia Viviani wins gold in Men's Omnium at - Rio Olympics

Among Important Sports Current Affairs, on 15th August 2016 Italy’s Elia Viviani grabbed the gold medal in the men's omnium cycling track at the Rio Olympics.

Whereas, Great Britain’s Mark Cavendish won the silver medal and Lasse Norman Hansen of Denmark took the bronze medal.

• Elia Viviani was born on 7th February 1989. He is an Italian racing cyclist.

• Elia Viviani rides for Team Sky.

• He won his first Grand Tour stage victory at the Giro d'Italia, winning stage 2 in a bunch sprint before Moreno Hofland and Andre Greipel on 10th May 2015.

First National Conference of which agency concludes in New Delhi - Investigating Agencies

Among National Current Affairs, for the very first time, The National Conference of Investigating Agencies was held from August 12 to 13, 2016 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

Here, the two-day conference was inaugurated by the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh. 

However, the conference was attended by more than 100 delegates from States/UTs/Central Police Organisations.

• The National Conference of Investigating Agencies was organized by the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) in coordination with National Investigation Agency (NIA). 

• The main aim of this kind of conference was to provide an annual national platform to all the officers of law enforcement agencies engaged in investigation tasks.
