Indo-French Air Exercise Garuda V concluded at Jodhpur
On 13th June 2014, Indo-French Air Exercise, Garuda V concluded in Jodhpur Air Base. The exercise between the air forces of both countries started on 2 June 2014 saw various combat roles including Air to Air refueling.

Maharashtra govt approves Thane district bifurcation
On 13th June 2014, State Cabinet of Maharashtra approved proposal to bifurcate Thane district to carve out Palghar district from it.
This bifurcation will be done on 1st August 2014 and with it, Palghar will become the 36th district of the state.
Regions that will remain as a part of Thane district after bifurcation are Thane, Kalyan, Ambernath, Ulhasnagar, Bhiwandi, Murbad and Shahapur. While the regions or talukas that will be carved out to form Palghar district are Palghar, Jawahar, Mokhada, Talasari, Vasai, Wada, Dahanu and Vikramgad.
C. Radhakrishnan selected for Moortidevi Award
Eminent Malayalam scientist-turned-writer C. Radhakrishnan has been selected for the prestigious Moortidevi Award for 2013 for his novel "Theekkadal Katanhu Thirumadhuram". The novel is a biographical account of Thunchath Ezhuthachan.
Moortidevi award is presented by the Bhartiya Jnanpith and carries cash prize of four lakh rupees, a plaque and a statue of goddess Saraswati.
The award is given in the memory of Moortidevi, the mother of Sahu Shanti Prasad Jain, the founder of Bhartiya Jnanpith.
Narendra Modi dedicated largest warship INS Vikramaditya to India
On 14th June 2014, the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi dedicated INS Vikramaditya to the nation. With this, India's largest warship, INS Vikramaditya has been inducted into Indian Navy.
He also pitched for making the country self-reliant in manufacturing defence equipment, shedding dependence on imports.
During his visit to warship INS Vikramadtya off Goa coast in Arabian Sea, the Prime Minister was given a ceremonial guard of honour by the Navy and was briefed about the warship.
"It is an important day for our nation. It is a golden day in Indian Navy’s history. For me, it is a matter of pride and happiness that INS Vikramaditya is joining the Navy. It is a historic step," he said.

INS Vikramaditya has been acquired from Russia for over 15000 crore rupees. The deal for the warship was signed in 2004 during previous NDA regime. It has been dedicated to the nation after a gap of 10 years, whereas it joined Indian Navy on 16 November 2013 after being commissioned by the then Union Defence Minister AK Antony at Sevmash shipyard of Russia.
World Blood Donor Day observed on 14 June across the globe
On 14th June 2014, World Blood Donor Day was observed across the globe. Theme for the year's World Blood Day campaign is Safe blood for saving mothers.
World Blood Donor Day established in 2004 is one of the eight official public health campaigns marked by the World Health Organization (WHO).
