FIFA Ballon d'Or Award for 2014 bagged by Cristiano Ronaldo
Among the important sports current affairs, On 12th January 2015 Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo was honoured with 2014 FIFA Ballon d'Or award for being the best footballer of the year in the world. Earlier Cristiano Ronaldo won this award in 2008 and 2013.
Cristiano Ronaldo got 37.66 percent votes to win this award. Lionel Messi won 15.76 votes while Manuel Neuer won 15.72 percent votes.
Alur Seelin Kiran Kumar named as new Chairman of ISRO
Among the important National Current Affairs, On 12th January 2015 Alur Seelin Kiran Kumar was appointed as Chairman of ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation).
He became eighth Chairman of ISRO and succeeded K Radhakrishnan who retired earlier on 31st December 2014.
Apart from being Chairman of ISRO he will also be serving as Secretary of the Department of Space and Chairman of Space Commission.

Online Visa Pilot Programme for Indian business and tourism visitors launched by Australia
On 12th January 2015, Online Visa Pilot Programme was launched by Australia with an aim to make it easier for Indian business and tourism visitors to apply online visa for travelling Australia. As a pilot programme it will be rolled out through selected travel agents across India. Australian Govt did it with a purpose to capitalize growing visitors market and to create jobs.
BAE Systems India (Services) Private Limited got new Chairman as Deepak Parekh
On 12th January 2015, Deepak Parekh appointed as a Non-Executive Director and Chairman of BAE Systems India (Services) Private Limited. Deepak Parekh is Chairman of Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC).

Central Banking Publications announced Central Banking Awards for 2015 on 12th January 2015.
The Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) was honoured with Central Bank of the Year award while Lifetime Achievement Award bagged by Jacques de Larosiere former Governor of the Banque de France (1987-1993).
RBI and ECB inked MoU on cooperation in Central Banking
On 12th January 2015, MoU for cooperation in the field of central banking was inked between Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the European Central Bank (ECB). RBI Governor Dr. Raghuram Rajan and ECB President Dr. Mario Draghi signed MoU which will help in providing a framework for regular exchange of information, policy dialogue and technical cooperation.
Space Pioneer Award for 2015 won by ISRO Mars Orbiter Mission Team
On 12th January 2015, Mars Orbiter Mission Team of Indian Space Research Organization won 2015 Space Pioneer Award in the Science and Engineering category.
Award will be given at National Space Society's 2015 International Space Development Conference which is scheduled to be held in Toronto, Canada from 20th to 24th May 2015.
Space Pioneer Award was instituted in 1988 to recognize those individuals and teams whose accomplishments have helped to open the space frontier.

India's first CNG powered train inaugurated
Among the National Current Affairs, On 13th January 2015 India's first compressed natural gas (CNG) powered train was inaugurated by Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu. It was inaugurated at Rewari - Rohtak link of Northern Zone.
This is developed to reduce diesel consumption and for adoption of green fuel in Indian Railways which will further help in reducing the greenhouse gas emissions.
