Who is appointed as Iran's first woman ambassador - Marzieh Af-kham

Among the important appointments, On 12th November 2015, Marzieh Af-kham was appointed as the first woman ambassador of Iran since the 1979 Islamic revolution.

“Choosing Afkham as ambassador took a few minutes but choosing her successor [as spokeswoman] took four months,” Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif says at a ceremony in Tehran for the 50-year-old career diplomat who will be replaced at the ministry by a man, Jaber Ansari.

Among the important appointments, On 12th November 2015, Italian diplomat Filippo Grandi was appointed as the new UN refugee chief as announced by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. He has replaced Antonio Guterres, of Portugal, who was UN High Commissioner for Refugees since 2005.
