Wimbledon Open Women's Doubles title was clinched by - Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis
Among Important Sports Current Affairs, On 11th July 2015, Sania Mirza along with her Swiss partner Martina Hingis won Wimbledon women's doubles title. Sania Mirza became first ever female Indian player to win a doubles Grand Slam trophy.
Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis defeated duo of Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina to win this title.
Wimbledon women's singles title was won by - Serena Williams
On 11th July 2015, Serena Williams won Wimbledon women's singles title. This was her sixth Wimbledon women's singles title. By this won Serena Williams won fourth Grand Slam championship in a row.
Serena Williams defeated Garbine Muguruza by 6-4, 6-4 to clinch this title.

By this win Serena Williams got 21 Grand Slam titles overall and at the age of 33 she also became oldest woman to win a Grand Slam title in the Open era.
Which indigeniously-developed supersonic surface-to-air missile was formally inducted in the Indian Air Force - Akash
On 10th July 2015, Indigeniously-developed supersonic surface-to-air missile Akash was formally inducted in the Indian Air Force. Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar inducted this missle formally.
IAF has given an initial contract for eight squadrons of Akash defence system. Each squadron has two firing units with four launchers. Each launcher has a capacity to fire three missiles in quick succession.

Akash missile can target aircraft upto 30 km away, at altitudes upto 18,000 metres. It can neutralise fighter jets, cruise missiles and air-to-surface missiles etc in the air.
Actor Omar Sharif passed away
On 10th July 2015, Actor Omar Sharif passed away. He was 83 years old. He belonged to Egypt and was best known for his portrayal of Doctor Zhivago in the hit 1966 film.
He was among the most famous actor from the Arabic world and has a great fame in Hollywood too. He won an Oscar-nomination for best supporting actor for his role in film Lawrence of Arabia.
