World Science Day for Peace and Development 2016 observed on - 10th November 2016

 Among Important Days, On 10th November 2016, The World Science Day for Peace and Development was observed across the globe.

This year theme was "Celebrating Science Centres and Science Museums". With this theme many discussions, special campaigns, visits to science museums were organised by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Aim to celebrate this day is to strengthen role of science for peaceful and sustainable societies and to promote national and international solidarity for shared science between countries.

Who has been appointed as interim Chairman of TCS - Ishaat Hussain

Among important appointments, On 9th November 2016, Ishaat Hussain was appointed as Chairman of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) with immediate effect by Tata Sons Ltd. He will be serving on this post till appointment of new Chairman.

Ishaat Hussain succeeded Cyrus Mistry as he was ousted on 23rd October 2016.

Important to mention here that Ishaat Hussain is also Chairman of Voltas and Tata Sky and member of Confederation of Indian Industries finance committee.

Name of first Indian-American woman to be elected to U.S. House - Pramila Jayapal

On 9th November 2016, Pramila Jayapal became first Indian-American woman to be elected to the U.S. House of Representative as she won a senate seat from the Washington state. She is from democratic party and won by 57% votes.

She is also author of book "Pilgrimage: One Woman's Return to a Changing India".
