R K Srikantan, an Eminent Carnatic Vocalist died at 94

Eminent Carnatic music, Vocalist Rudra Krishna Srikantan(R K Srikantan),  died at the age of 94 due to chest congestion in Bangalore on 17 February 2014.

He recently released his biograpby "Voice of Generation" on his birthday in January 2014.

He was born on 14th January 1920 in Karnataka. 

R K Srikantan was conferred with many awards as,

• Padma Bhushan,
• The Best Teacher Award by the erstwhile Bangalore City Corporation,
• Sangeetha Kala Ratna from the Gayana Samaja,
• Kanaka Purandara Award and the Rajyotsava Award from the State Government,
• Honorary Doctorate from Bangalore University,
• Chowdiah National Award by the Academy of Music, Bangalore and many more...
