Madya Pradesh implemented National Food Security Act
Updated : 02-Mar-2014Madhya Pradesh implemented the National Food Security Act from 1st March 2014.
Important to note: This implementation is a part of National Food Security Act 2013 that became an Act after receiving the nod by the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee in September 2013.
National Food Security Act 2013 :
- Under National food security act 75% rural and 50% of the urban population are entitled for three years from enactment to five kg food grains per month at Rs.3/Kg for Rice, Rs. 2/Kg for wheat and Rs 1/Kg for coarse grains.
- The cost of the implementation is estimated to be $22 billion(1.25 lac crore) which is approximately 1.5 % of total GDP.
