RBI amends Gold Monetisation Scheme to make it more attractive on - 7th June 2018
The RBI revised the Gold Monetisation Scheme-2015 on June 7 th , 2018 with an objective to facilitate people to create a gold deposit account without any disturbance.
Short term deposits- Now, the short-term deposits will be kept as bank's on-balance sheet liability.
- These short-term deposits will be kept with the designated banks for a small time period of 1-3 years.
- Deposits can also be permitted for liquidation periods for instance, for 15 months or for 2 years-4 months-5 days.
- The interest rate payable in the case of deposits will be calculated as the sum of interest for the accomplished year with addition of interest for the number of outstanding days.
Redemption of principal at maturity - In the case of Medium and Long-Term Government Deposits, the reclamation of principal at maturity will be either in gold, or rupees equal of the value of placed-gold at the time of reclamation, as per to the preference of the account holder.
- However, any pre-mature reclamation of Medium and Long-Term Government Deposits shall be only in Rupees.
- In case of reclamation of the gold-deposit, an organizational charge of 0.2% of the Rupees value will be charged from the depositor.
- The interest accumulated on Medium and Long-Term Government Deposits will be calculated with reference to the value of gold in terms of rupees during the time of deposit and will be given only in cash money.
Handling charges
The selected banks will be remunerated handling charges including charges for gold’s purity testing, refining, transportation and storage at a flat rate of 1.5% and directive at the rate of 1% of the amount equal to the amount of gold utilised under the plan.
‘Business First Portal’ launched by - Punjab government
The Punjab Government released a ‘Business First Portal’ to push towards the comfort of doing business in the state. The online portal was released by the state’s Industry Minister Sunder Sham Arora in Jalandhar, Punjab. While addressing the entrepreneurs, the Minister informed that online portal would ease the entrepreneurs for regulatory clearances and fiscal endorsements and real-time applications tracking on a common platform.
Other Details- The Punjab state government would also make sure 100% VAT reimbursement to the entrepreneurs by the end of 2018.
- The complete VAT reimbursement would be given to the entrepreneurs by releasing instalment worth Rupees 300 crores to them after every 2 months.
- Unfolding the industry as the mainstay of the state’s economy, the Industry Minister informed that every problem of the entrepreneurs would be resolved on high priority.
- Further, the Punjab government has recognized 22 industrial clusters for progress of Common Facility Centres.
- 10 contracts were also inked on the eve with an investment of more than Rupees 46.50 crores.
First Indian to score 2,000 runs in T20 International - Mithali Raj
Mithali Raj cme out as the 1st Indian cricketer to score 2,000 runs in T-20 International cricket. She attained the feat during India's 7 wickets victory over Sri Lanka in the Women's Asia Cup T-20 at Kaula Lumpur.
Mithali Raj now has 2,015 runs in 75 matches. Indian men's team skipper Virat Kohli with 1,983 runs is the subsequent on the list, trailed by Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina.
Key Facts- Mithali Raj became the 7th female cricketer and the only Indian to achieve the T-20 International feat.
- Overall, the list is led by former England captain Charlotte Edwards with 2605 scores, trailed by present West Indies and New Zealand skippers, Stafanie Taylor with 2,582 runs and Suzie Bates with 2,582 scores.
- Martin Guptill and Brendon McCullum from New Zealand are the only 2 male-cricketers to have surpassed the 2000 scores mark in T-20 International cricket, with 2271 and 2140 scores respectively.
- Mithali Raj has played both Test and ODIs cricket for India's women's cricket team.
- She made her ODI debut in 1999 against Ireland at Milton Keynes and recorded unbeaten 114 runs.
- She made her Test match debut in the 2001–02 season against South Africa at Lucknow.
