Among the important International Current Affairs, On 9th December 2015, International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide was observed worldwide.
On 11th September 2015, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) acquired the resolutions declaring 9th December as International Day of Commemoration & Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide and of the Prevention of this Crime.
In the assembly of 193-member the resolution was adopted without a vote and it rehearsed the responsibility of each individual State to protect its people from genocide.

Union Government and NTC signed MoU for - Establishing a Technology Centre at Kanpur
On 8th December 2015, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was inked between National Textile Corporation (NTC), Union Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) and The Union Ministry of Textiles to set up a Technology Centre (Tool Room) at Kanpur.
Highlights of the MoU
- As per the MoU, NTC will provide the land in a closed unviable mill while Ministry of MSME will fund the project.
- Development Commissioner of MSME will be Chairman and co-chairman will be the Ministry of Textiles representative.
- To improve the productivity of MSMEs and enable them to become competitive in national and international markets the Centre will provide support in manufacturing of quality tools.
- It will also provide trained manpower and consultancy in related areas.
Who has became first Indian company to receive DGCI’s approval for hepatitis C drug - Hetero
Among the important National Current Affairs, On 8th December 2015, the approval of Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) to launch fixed-dose combination therapy Ledipasvir-Sofosbuvir was received by Hyderabad-based Hetero Drugs. It will be available in India under the name Ledisof.
Hetero is the first company in the India to get approval from DGCI.
About Hepatitis C
- As per an estimation, around 12-18 million patients are infected with Hepatitis C in India.
- In developing countries, it is growing at a very rapid rate.
- It increases the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma, cirrhosis of liver and liver failure.
US House passed Visa Waiver Program Improvement Act of 2015
On 8th December 2015, Visa Waiver Program Improvement Act of 2015 was passed by US House of Representatives. It recompenses the United States' visa travel practices.
Points of the Act
- According to the bill, people who have traveled after 1st March 2011 to Iraq, Syria, Iran and Sudan are barred from participating in the program.
- It instructed travelers to be checked against Interpol databases.
- Countries participating in the visa waiver program need to share counter-terrorism information with the US, and issue e-passports with biometric information.
After the approval off the Act from the House of Representatives it will need approval from Senate and approval from the President Barack Obama.
According to the US officials, around 5000 Europeans have migrated to Syria and Iraq to fight against the extremist groups of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
