Government appointed S Gurumurthy and Satish Marathe as part-time Directors of - RBI Board
On 7th August 2018, Central Government appointed Swaminathan Gurumurthy and Satish Kashinath Marathe as part-time non-official Directors on the Central Board of Reserve Bank of India (RBI). It was done after the approval of Appointments Committee of the Cabinet. They have been appointed for four years of term.
Delhi High court decriminalised which act - Begging
On 8th August 2018, Delhi High Court decriminalised begging in Delhi. Bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar ruled that the provisions penalising the act were unconstitutional. Court also ruled that Delhi government is at liberty to bring in alternative legislation to curb any racket of forced begging after undertaking a thorough practical examination on the sociological and economic aspect of the matter.
