South Asia Economic Focus report released by World Bank
On 6th October 2014, South Asia Economic Focus report was released by World Bank. As per the report economy will expand by 6 percent in 2015 and by 6.4 percent in 2016.
As per report Indian economy will comprise 80 percent of the region's output, which is set to grow by 6.4 percent in fiscal year (FY) 2015-16 after 5.6 percent in FY 2014-15.

On 6th October 2014, World Habitat Day was observed. World Habitat Day is observed on first Monday of October of every year.
Theme of World Habitat Day 2014 was "Voices from Slums".
World Habitat Day was established in 1985 by the United Nations General Assembly and was observed in 1986 for first time.
Noted German author Siegfried Lenz passed away
Noted german author Siegfried Lenz passed away on 7th October 2014, He was 88 years old. His work was translated into more than 30 languages.
For his work he bagged many prizes and recognitions, few of them are Peace Prize of the German Book Trade, honorary citizenship of Hamburg and Italian International Nonino Prize.
Jet Airways got government approval for appointment of Cramer Ball as CEO
Name of Cramer Ball as new CEO of Jet Airways was cleared by Union Ministry of Civil Aviation. He will be serving at this position upto 2017. Previously he was serving as acting CEO of the Jet Airways.
He will succeed Gary Kenneth Toomey who served at this position for seven months. Cramer Ball is an Australian national, who has also served as CEO of Air Seychelles.
Jet airways is second largest airline of India after Indigo Airlines.
India-Myanmar Service (IMS) launched by SCI
On 7th October 2014, India Myanmar Service (IMS) Container service was launched by Shipping Corporation of India Limited (SCI). It will be operating container services from Chennai to Myanmar.
This service is expected to boost the bilateral trade relations between India and Myanmar.
In future India is also thinking to start similar services to Thailand and Vietnam too.
Waislitz Global Citizen Award 2014 bagged by Anoop Jain
On 8th October 2014, Anoop Jain won Waislitz Global Citizen Award for his great work in rural India. He founded Humanure Power (HP) in Bihar in 2011 that builds community sanitation facilities in rural India.
This prestigious award carries a prize of 100000 US dollar. He was chosen after he got maximum votes by people across the world.
On 8th October Air Force Day was celebrated by Indian Air Force
On 8th October 2014, Indian Air force celebrated its 82nd Foundation day. 8th October is observed as Indian Air Force Day in India every year.
Apart from Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Robin K Dhowan and Army chief Gen Dalbir Singh Suhag, Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar also attended 82nd anniversary celebration of the Indian Air Force at Hindon base, as Tendulkar was the first person to be conferred with honourary title of Group Captain.
