    Animal Welfare Board of India headquarters shifted from Chennai to - Ballabhgarh

    Government has lifted headquarters of Animal Welfare Board of India from Chennai, Tamil Nadu to Ballabhgarh, Faridabad District of Haryana. It was lifted after consultation with Animal Welfare Board of India for better cooperation among the Environment Ministry and Animal Welfare Board of India for implementation of the animal welfare actions.

    The Rule 3 of the Animal Welfare Board Rules, 1962 remarks that the headquarter of Animal Welfare Board of India shall be at New Delhi or at such other place like central government, following discussion with the Board direct.

    Animal Welfare Board of India

    AWBI is a constitutional advisory body recognized in 1962 under Section 4 of The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.
