    Ritu Mallya joined MCF board as Director

    On 4th December 2014, Ritu Mallya joined MCF (Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilisers) board as Director. She joined as Director of MCF after Vijay Mallya had to quit the board after SBI advised company that it will be difficult for bank to lend money to MCF with a willful defaulter Mallya on the board.

    Ritu Mallya is wife of late Vittal Mallya (founder of UB group) is a Bengaluru-based lawyer. 

    Blind Cricket World Cup for the year 2014 won by India

    Among the important Sports Current Affairs, On 7th December 2014 Indian Blind Cricket team won the fourth edition of the Blind Cricket World Cup at the final held at Wally Wilson Cricket Ground in Cape Town, South Africa.

    India defeated defending champions Pakistan to win the title. Batting first Pakistan scored 389 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 40 overs. Indian team managed to reach the target score in 39.4 overs at the loss of 5 wickets.

    Shekar Nail was the captain of Indian team.

    Fourth batsman to complete 13000 ODI runs is Kumar Sangakkara

    Noted Sri Lankan batsman Kumar Sangakkara became fourth batsman to complete 13000 ODI (One-Day Internationals) runs after playing total 386 matches. Other three players are following :

    Sachin Tendulkar (India) - 18426 runs from 463 ODIs,

    Ricky Ponting (Australia) - 13704 runs from 375 ODIs and

    Sanath Jayasuriya (Sri Lanka) - 13430 runs from 445 ODIs.

    Largest human formation of a national flag in world Guinness Record set by India

    On 7th December 2014, India set the Guinness Record for largest human formation of a national flag in the world as around  50000 volunteers from Chennai gathered at YMCA Grounds to form the human Tricolour.

    Earlier this record was in the name of Sports Club of Lahore, Pakistan wherein 28957 people formed the national flag of Pakistan.

    Official certificate of Guinness World Record was presented by Guinness official Syeda Subasi-Gemici. Human Tricolour formation was organised as part of the My Flag My India campaign with an aim to infuse patriotism and nationalism in the youth.
