    Anita Kapur appointed as the CBDT new chairperson

    Among the important appointmerts current affairs, On 5th November 2014 Senior IRS officer Anita Kapur was appointed as new Chairperson of CBDT (Central Board of Direct Taxes), which is an apex authority of Income Tax Department. She succeeded KV Chowdary after his retirement on 31st October 2014.

    Till November 2015, Anita Kapur will be serving at this position, Earlier she was serving as Member of Legislation and Computerisation and Income-Tax in CBDT.

    On 7th November, National Cancer Awareness Day observed

    On 7th November 2014, National Cancer Awareness Day was observed across the country as Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan in September 2014 had already announced that 7th November will be observed as National Cancer Awareness Day every year in India. 

    US Navy SEAL commando Robert O'Neill claimed to have shot Osama bin Laden

    Robert O'Neill who is a former US Navy SEAL commando claimed that he was the one who shot Osama bin Laden at his Pakistan hideout in Abbottobad. Thus he revealed his identity is public in an interview to the Washington Post. He revealed his identity ahead of a two-part Fox News series dubbed as The Man Who Killed Osama bin Laden.

    Robert O'Neill has got many medals which make him most decorated commando of US SEAL Navy, even his heroic actions have been featured in three movies namely Captain Phillips, Zero Dark Thirty and Lone Survivor.

    Indian-origin politician Keith Vaz selected as Labour MP of the Year

    On 6th November 2014, Indian-origin British politician Nigel Keith Anthony Standish Vaz (Keith Vaz) was selected as Labour MP of the year 2014 award for his valuable work for underrepresented, deprived and minority sections of the country.

    Navy Auxiliary Vessel TRV-72 sank off Visakhapatnam coast

    On 6th November 2014, A Torpedo Recovery Vessel named TRV-72 of Indian Navy sank off the Visakhapatnam coast. This sad incident happened during a naval exercise in which one sailor was killed and three others went missing.

    This auxiliary ship was about 35 nautical miles south of Visakhapatnam and 28 nautical miles from the closest point of the coast. Out of 28 personnel on board 24 were rescued by naval rescue operation.
