    Which documentary film had been released by BBC - India's Daughter

    Among the important National Current Affairs, On 4th March 2015, British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) released a documentary film India's Daughter directed by Leslee Udwin. The film is hinged on the Delhi gang rape and murder of the 23-year-old female named Nirbhaya that took place on 16th December 2012. The film was at once released in Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, Canada and Norway. The documentary comprise of an interview conducted by British filmmaker Leslee Udwin of Mukesh Singh, the driver of the bus. Mukesh has made disparaging statements against women. The makers of the documentary had earlier decided to release the film on the occasion of International Women’s Day on 8 March 2015.

    Who has inaugrated the two units of Shree Singaji Thermal Power Project in Khandwa, MP - Prime Minister Narendra Modi

    Among the important National Current Affairs, On 5th March 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated two units of 600 Mega Watt (MW) each of Shree Singaji Thermal Power Project at Dongliya village in Khandwa district of MP. Madhya Pradesh Power Generation Company Limited (MPPGCL) at an expense of 7820 crore rupees developed the first phase of Shree Singaji Thermal Power Project with 1200 MW capacity. The total thermal power generation capacity of the State increased to 4500 MW with the commissioning of these two plants.

    Which Bus Service has been Flagged off by India and Nepal - Kathmandu-Varanasi-Kathmandu bus service

    On 5th March 2015, The Kathmandu-Varanasi-Kathmandu bus service was flagged off jointly by India and Nepal. Ambassador of India to Nepal Ranjit Rae and Nepal Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Bimalendra Nidhi flagged off the bus service. The bus service was launched under the ambit of Motor Vehicle Agreement signed between India and Nepal during the 18th SAARC Summit.

    Kathmandu-Varanasi-Kathmandu bus service

    • The Varanasi to Kathmandu service is named as the Bharat-Nepal Maitri Bus Seva (India-Nepal Friendship Bus Service).
    • It seeks to promote people-to-people contact and religious tourism between both the countries by connecting the two religious cities.
    • This bus service will connect Varanasi’s Kashi Vishwanath Temple with Kathmandu’s Pashupatinath Temple as both shrines are considered important pilgrimage sites by Shiva worshippers all around the world.
    • The Varanasi to Kathmandu Air Conditioned bus service will be a daily bus service covering about 600 km distance in 12 hours which will reach Kathmandu via Azamgarh, Gorakhpur and Sonauli (Maharajganj district).

    Where did the Artificial glacier in the form of Ice stupa to store water inaugurated - Phyang village of Ladakh

    On 6th March 2015, Artificial glacier in the form of Ice stupa was inaugurated at Phyang village in Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir. The motive of building such stupa is to store water to green the entire desert of Phyang which has an area of 1500 acres.

    About the Ice Stupa

    • The Ice stupa with a height of 50 feet will store roughly two million liters of water while another 6 million liters of water absorbed in the ground will add moisture to the earth for tree plantation.
    • The concept of Ice stupa was inspired from the work of Padmashree C Norphel and Drikung Skyabgon Chetsang.
    • This stupa is part of plan to build 80 to 90 stupas holding 10 million liters of water.
    • The project was funded through crowd-funding with donations coming from individuals and institutions from around the world raising 125000 US dollars.

    Who has passed the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2015 - Rajya Sabha

    On 4th March 2015, Rajya Sabha passed the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2015. The Bill was passed by the Lok Sabha on 2 March 2015. The Bill seeks to integrate the Person of Indian Origin (PIO) and Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) schemes. Apart from this, the Bill also provide 30-day break to person who applies for Indian citizenship if they have to leave Indian for some time. Further, it authorize the Union Government to cancel the OCI card obtained by the spouse of an Indian citizen if the marriage is dissolved by a court or the spouse enters into another marriage even while the first marriage has not been dissolved.
