Who was named as World Class Gymnast by International Gymnastics Federation - Dipa Karmakar

 Among Important Sports Current Affairs, Dipa Karmakar who is an Indian gymnast was named a ‘Gymnaste de Classe Mondaile’ (World class gymnast) by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG).

However, in this regard, on 6th July 2016 she received the official letter confirming the distinction from the federation.

After this, she also became the first-ever Indian gymnast to receive the honour.

Know About Dipa Karmakar -

• An Indian artistic gymnast from Agartala, Tripura Dipa Karmakar represents India at the international circuit.

• She came in the highlight, when she won a bronze medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, held at Glasgow becoming the first Indian female gymnast to do so in the history of the games.

National Green Highways Mission launched by - Union Government 

Among Important National Current Affairs, on 1st July 2016 Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari launched the National Green Highways Mission (NGHM) in New Delhi.

However, under this initiative, plantation drive on 1500 km of National Highways, which was launched at a cost of about 300 crore rupees.

Who has been appointed as the Cheif Secretary of Uttar Pradesh - Deepak Singhal

  On 6th July 2016, Deepak Singhal who is 1982 batch IAS officer has been appointed as the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh. Singhal is taking place of the 1978 batch officer Alok Ranjan, who will be retired on 30 June 2016 after a three-month extension of service.

Singhal will handle the responsibility of holding additional charge of Principal Resident Commissioner of UP in New Delhi, and chairman of the Pradeshiya Industrial & Investment Corporation of UP (PICUP).

Social media banking platform SBI Mingle launched by - SBI 

On 1st July 2016, The State Bank of India (SBI) launched SBI Mingle, a social media banking platform for Facebook and Twitter users.

By SBI Chairman Arundhati Bhattacharya the platform has been launched on the occasion of 61st State Bank Day that is observed on 1 July every year. 

Myspeed App to measure real time mobile internet speed was launched by- TRAI

On 5th July 2016, TRAI which is also known as The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India have launched the MySpeed mobile application for measuring real time mobile Internet speed of consumers.

However, the idea behind this app is that customers should know about the experience of their as well as other networks in order to select the best mobile operator in their locality. This is the first application to be launched under the Digital India initiative which is directly trying to tackle the issue of poor data speeds.
