The book titled Modi’s Midas Touch in Foreign Policy has been launched by - Venkaiah Naidu
Among Important National Current Affairs, on 4th October 2016 M. Venkaiah Naidu, who is the Minister for Information and Broadcasting, have released the book titled Modi’s Midas Touch in Foreign Policy.
This book is authored by Ambassador Surendra Kumar.
Jean-Pierre Sauvage, J Fraser Stoddart and Bernard L Feringa win 2016 Nobel Prize in – Chemistry
Among Important International Current Affairs, Trio of Jean-Pierre Sauvage, J Fraser Stoddart and Bernard L Feringa have won the prestigious 2016 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
However, Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has chosen them for this award for their individual efforts in developing molecular machines.
Please Note – All these three laureates will share the 8 million Swedish kronor (around $933,000) prize equally.
Name the Indian mountaineer who scales world's sixth highest mountain Cho Oyu - Arjun Vajpai
Among Important National Current Affairs, on 4th October 2016 Arjun Vajpai, who is a professional Indian mountaineer, scaled the world's sixth highest mountain Cho Oyu.
However, this mountain is located on the China-Nepal border at an altitude of 8188 meters above the sea level.
Also, the 23-year-old reached the summit before dawn along with his sherpas namely Pasang Norbu Sherpa and Lakpa Sherpa after leaving from Camp 3 in mid-night.
Name the former Portuguese PM who has been selected to be UN Secretary-General - Antonio Guterres
Among Important International Current Affairs, on 5th October 2016 Former Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Guterres was unanimously selected by the UN Security Council as the next UN Secretary-General.
On 1st January 2017 Guterres will succeed Ban Ki-moon.
However, the 15-nation Security Council's decision will be sent, following the formal approval, to the 193-member General Assembly for final formal approval.
India’s communication satellite GSAT-18 successfully launched from - French Guiana
Among Important National Current Affairs, India’s latest communication satellite GSAT-18 was successfully launched from the spaceport of Kourou in French Guiana.
However, this satellite was launched on board of heavy duty Ariane-5 VA-231 rocket of Arianespace. Also, it was successfully injected into a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO).

• GSAT-18 is known to be the 20th satellite from ISRO, which is to be launched by the European space agency and overall 280th mission of the Arianespace rocket launcher family.
Who has been appointed as CBDT Chairman - Sushil Chandra
In the first week of October 2016 only, the Union Government has appointed Indian Revenue Service Officer Sushil Chandra as the Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).
Sushil Chandra will handle the responsibility of the current CBDT Chairperson Rani Singh Nair, who will retire on 31 October 2016.
Currently, Sushil Chandra is posted as Member, CBDT.
