Name the French intellectual who has passed away - Rene Girard
On 4th November 2015, French intellectual Rene Girard passed away at the age of 91.
He had authored around 30 books including Things Hidden Since the Foundation of the World (1978), Violence and the Sacred (1972), Desire and the Novel (1961) and Deceit.
Girard was especially interested in the causes of conflict and violence and the role of imitation in human behaviour.
Who has been honoured with Vishnudas Bhave Award - Veteran actor Vikram Gokhale
Among the important National Current Affairs, On 5th November 2015, Prestigious Vishnudas Bhave Award was presented to renowned film, television and stage actor Vikram Gokhale on the eve of Marathi Rangbhumi Dina at a ceremony held in Sangli, Maharashtra.
The award was presented to Gokhale by prominent actress-singer Faiyaz Shaikh. He is honoured for his outstanding contribution to Marathi theatre.
Some other awards received by him are : Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (2011), National Film Award for Best Actor category for his Marathi film Anumati (2013).

Among the important International Current Affairs, On 5th November 2015, Samia Hassan Suluhu sworned in as the Tanzania's first female Vice President along with the new President John Pombe Magufuli.
Suluhu was elected as the Vice Chairperson of the Constituent Assembly tasked with drafting Tanzania’s new constitution in 2014.
Who has uplifted Minimum Support Prices for Rabi Crops of 2015-16 season - CCEA
On 5th November 2015, The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) uplifted the Minimum Support Prices (MSPs) for Rabi Crops of 2015-16.
It has also been decided by the Cabinet to give a bonus of 75 rupees per quintal for rabi pulses.
The Food Corporation of India (FCI) will be the Central Nodal Agency for acquisition of pulses and oilseeds.
To surcharge the efforts of FCI, National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation (NCCF), the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Limited (NAFED), Small Farmers Agri–Business Consortium (SFAC) and Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) may also as per their capacity undertake procurement of oilseeds and pulses.
Who has been appointed as Managing Director of Oxford University Press India - V Sivaramakrishnan
Among the important appointments, On 5th November 2015, V Sivaramakrishnan (Siva) was appointed as the Managing Director of the Oxford University Press India (OUPI).
He has replaced Ranjan Kaul who has worked with OUP for 14 years. Earlier to this, Sivaramakrishnan was working in Manipal Global Education Services.
He held various consumer branding roles within Proctor and Gamble and spent nearly ten years with the Ford Motor Company.
Bosnian and Serbian Governments held first joint session post-Bosnian War in - Saravejo
On 4th November 2015, Bosnian and Serbian governments held their first joint session in Saravejo since the end of the Bosnian War in 1995 to improve their relations and contribute to the stabilization of the Western Balkans.
During the session, the governments signed cooperation agreements on telecommunications, protection of cultural heritage, sustainable development and finding missing persons.
After the session, Bosnia's Prime Minister Denis Zvizdic said there will be more sessions like this.

Among the important National Current Affairs, From 3rd to 7th January 2015, The 21st International Conference on Frontiers in Yoga Research and its Applications (INCOFYRA) will be held at Prashanti Kutiram, Bengaluru.
Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Sansthana will organize the summit on the theme "Yoga in Integrated Healthcare Systems". The 21st INCOFYRA will bring together the modern and traditional medical systems.
The summit will provide a platform for experts and practitioners all over the world in traditional systems of medicine to show findings of evidence–based research regarding impact of Yoga on non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
