Google Maps launched new public transport features in - India
Google Maps has declared 3 India-first public transport navigation features with an objective to ease daily travel of travellers. Starting from 5th June 2019, Google Maps subscribers will be able to see bus travel times from live traffic across 10 Indian cities, along with live train status for Indian Railways and even receive mixed-mode commute suggestions which now unites auto-rickshaw and public transport.
More about Three New Feature for Commuters- Real-time bus travel information is 1st of its kind product feature, released 1st in India. It will allow commuters to know how long bus trip will take from their initial location to destination, by factoring-in live traffic conditions.
- This feature is now live across 10 cities in India including Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Lucknow, Chennai, Mysore, Coimbatore, and Surat.
- The bus travel times from live traffic will show results in green signal when working on time as well as red when delayed/late.
- Real-Time train information status for long-distance trains is India-specific feature that Google Maps can now assist subscribers know real-time live running status of a train and checked if it is delayed. This feature it will work only in case of a long-distance trains.
- This feature was progressed in collaboration with ‘Where is my Train’ app that was attained by the
Google in 2018. - Mixed-mode navigation Guidance with auto-rickshaw recommendation will inform subscribers if taking an auto-rickshaw is better or another mode of transport including metro, local train/bus when taking a journey.
- It will tell to and from which station/stop subscribers should take an auto-rickshaw and their total journey time along with what station/stop will be the most suitable for switching to other means of transport.
Pact with Boeing to modernise India’s Air Traffic Management signed by - AAI
The Airports Authority of India inked a technical assistance pact with Boeing to develop and modernise India’s Air Traffic Management.
Key Highlights- Aerospace major Boeing inked into a technical assistance pact with Airports Authority of India to mutually progress a comprehensive 10 years roadmap for modernising air traffic management in India. It is believed to be developed within 1.5 years.
- The roadmap will be undertaken with a funding from the United States Trade and Development Agency.
- The roadmap so progressed by Boeing will be utilised as direction in the modernisation of the
Indian National Airspace System. - It will be based on international and local best practices of optimally using airspace capacity, attractive communications and also participating in surveillance, navigation and air traffic management.
- Boeing will also study present technologies and processes to classify efficiency enhancements that can be executed in project undertaken at the same time maintaining a practical and safe airspace system.
- As part of the project Boeing will assist closely with Directorate General of Civil Aviation, airlines
operating in India, airport operators and other airspace shareholders like United States-India Aviation Cooperation Programme. - Airports Authority of India owns and manages about 125 airports across India thus, execution of modern technologies and adoption of international practices will permit India to upsurge its airspace capacity significantly.
Facebook released its first interactive Game Show on - 4th June 2019
The Social networking mega Facebook released its 1st interactive game show, termed ‘Confetti’ in India on 4th June 2019. The release announcement was done on side-lines of Facebook’s Social Entertainment Summit organised in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
More about Confetti- It is Facebook’s 1st formal show in India and will go on air beginning 12th June 2019. It will air from
Wednesday to Sunday on Facebook Watch, Facebook’s devoted video platform. - The interactive game show is exclusive to Facebook Watch and the contestants stand a chance to secure Rupees 3 lakh as cash prize money every day on trial of answering pop culture trivia questions.
- It pursues to permit its subscribers to participate better and bring communities together around
exceptional, interactive video experiences on Facebook. - The interactive game was 1st out in the U.S. and is already available in other parts of the world the United Kingdom, Mexico, Canada, Vietnam, Philippines and Thailand.

It is Facebook’s video-on-demand provision. It was internationally rolled out by the social networking leader in 2018, in an attempt to take on its rival YouTube.

Who wins J.C. Daniel Award ? - Malayalam actor Sheela
Veteran Malayalam actress Sheela was bestowed with prestigious J C Daniel Award for her aids to Malayalam Cinema field. She is only the 2nd female to secure this award after Aranmula Ponnamma in year 2005.

It is Kerala government’s highest honour for outstanding involvement to Malayalam cinema. It is named after J C Daniel, who is credit for producing 1st silent movie in Malayalam Film Industry. The award includes a citation, plaque and a cash prize of Rupees 5 Lakh. The yearly award will be presented away on 27th July 2019 at a function in Kerala. This year’s jury was led by renowned filmmaker K.S.Sethumadhavan.
More about Sheela- Sheela is popularly known as Sheelamma by her followers. She debuted during early 1960s with Tamil movie Paasam. Far ahead in 1962, she started her career in Malayalam with movie Bhagyajathakam directed by P. Bhaskaran.
- Since then she has been Malayalam cinema’s sweetheart for a couple of decades. She created history as being 1st recipient of “best actress” award established by the Kerala government for her 1969 movie ‘Kallichellamma.’
- She secured State and National Awards for the best character artist for the movie Akale in 2004.

Who has appointed Director General of IMD ? - Mrutyunjay Mohapatra
Famous scientist, Mrutyunjay Mohapatra has been selected as Director-General the India Meteorological Department. His nomination order was given by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.
More about Mrutyunjay Mohapatra- The 54 years old cyclone warning specialist is Scientist ‘G’ grade in India Meteorological Department.
- Before joining India Meteorological Department, he worked at the DRDO laboratory, Chandipur.
- He is selected as chief of India Meteorological Department and will undertake charge of the position on or subsequently 1st August 2019 for a period of 5 years.
- He leads the Cyclone Warning Division of the India Meteorological Department and is well known as “Cyclone Man” for his cyclone forecasts. In last 6 years, CWD has issued precise forecasts on cyclones such as Phailin in 2013, Hudhud in 2014 and Titli in 2018, which hit the eastern coast.
- He pursues to support the India Meteorological Department’s infrastructure and progress dissemination of weather-related data with emphasis on sector-related forecast and giving impact-based forecast in all areas.
