    FIIs allowed by RBI to buy up to 49% paid up capital in Bajaj Corp

    On 5th January 2015, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs)/Registered Foreign Portfolios Investors (RFPIs) were allowed by Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to buy up to 49 percent of the paid-up capital of Bajaj Corp Ltd. These investments will be made under the PIS (Portfolio Investment Scheme).

    P Krishnamurthy appointed Private Secretary of Union Defence Minister

    Among the important appointments, On 5th January 2015, 1997 batch IAS officer of Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram Union territories (AGMU) cadre P Krishnamurthy was appointed as Private Secretary of Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar. He will be serving for the period of five years or on co-terminus basis with the minister's tenure.

    P Krishnamurthy has also worked with Parrikar when he was chief minister of Goa. 

    National Sub-Junior Billiards title 2015 bagged by S Shrikrishna

    Among the Important National Sports Current Affairs, On 5th January 2015, S Shrikrishna won his first National Sub-Junior Billiards title at the BRC Gloster National Billiards & Snooker Championship 2015. He clinched his first title be defeating Ishpreet Singh Chadha of Maharashtra by 326-283. 

    India-based Neutrino Observatory set up in TN approved by Govt

    On 5th January 2015, Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved to set up the India-based Neutrino Observatory (INO) in state of Tamil Nadu. 

    It is planned to be set up near Pottipuram village in the Bodi West Hills of Theni district. Project cost is estimated around 1500 crore rupees. 

    INO will be a underground laboratory with a rock cover of approximate 1200 metre. It will be used for non-accelerator based high energy and nuclear physics research in India and this project will also includes Inter-Institutional Centre for High Energy Physics (IICHEP) and Iron Calorimeter Detector (ICAL).

    Indian cricket team squad for World Cup 2015 announced by BCCI

    Among the Important Sports Current Affairs, On 6th January 2015, BCCI announced 15 player squad for the Cricket World Cup 2015. It was announced after the meeting of the selection committee of BCCI.
