World Wildlife Day 2019 celebrated on - 3rd March 2019
World Wildlife Day 2019 was celebrated on March 3 with the subject of ‘Life below water: for people & planet.’ March 3 is the day of the implementation of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna & Flora.
World Wildlife Day Objectives- To deliver an opportunity to observe the beautiful & varied forms of wild fauna & flora.
- To spread awareness of the multitude of profits that conservation provides to people.
- At the same time to remind the ecosphere of the imperative need to step-up the fight against wildlife crime & human-induced lessening of species, which have a wide-ranging economic, environmental & social impact.
Life below water: for people & planet
The subject of World Wildlife Day 2019 “Life below water: for people & planet” complements the Goal 14 of the Sustainable Development Goals purposes to ‘conserve & sustainably utilise the oceans, seas & marine resources for sustainable development.’
Abhinandan Varthaman To Be Awarded Bhagwan Mahavir Ahimsa Puraskar on - 17th April 2019
Indian Air Force Wing-commander Abhinandan Varthaman has been selected for the 1st Bhagwan
Mahavir Ahimsa Puraskar established by the Akhil Bharatiya Digambar Jain Mahasamiti.
The award which conveys a cash prize of Rupees 2.51 lakh, a memento & a citation will be awarded to Abhinandan Varthaman on April 17th the Mahavir Jayanti.
More about Abhinandan Varthaman- Abhinandan Varthaman, is wing-commander in the Indian Air Force, came into attention in the ongoing bilateral tensions between Indian & Pakistan result of the Pulwama terror attack.

Pakhtunkhwa of Pakistan , Pakistan government reacted with an intrusion into J&K. - Abhinandan Varthaman was flying MiG-21 as a part of a raid that was knotted to intercept an intrusion by Pakistan Air craft.
- In the dogfight that followed, he entered into Pakistan territory wherein he was hit by missiles.
- Later he evicted & descended safely at the village of Horran in POK around seven kilometres from LoC. He was arrested by the Pakistan Military & was later handed over to India as a peace gesture.
