Which boxer has announced to quit boxing after 2016 Rio Olympics - Mary Kom
On 2nd March 2015, Olympic medalist MC Mary Kom announced that she will quit boxing after the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. She decided to quit after the Olympic Games as her body would not be able to cope with the demands of the sport any further. She said that after retirement she will concentrate on her boxing academy set up in Manipur.
About MC Mary Kom
- Mary Kom is an Indian boxer belonging to Kom tribal community of the north-eastern state of Manipur.
- MC Mary Kom is the only woman boxer to have won a medal in each one of the six world championships and a five-time World Boxing champion.
- She is the first Indian woman boxer to get a Gold Medal in the Asian Games in 2014.
- She received Padma Bhushan for Sports in 2013.
- She received Padma Shree for Sports in 2010.
- She was presented with Arjuna Award for Boxing in 2003.
- In 2009, she was awarded with Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award.

Among the important International Current Affairs, On 3rd March 2015, Forbes magazine released Global Billionaire’s 2015 annual list. Co-founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates topped the global billionaires list of Forbes magazine for the 16th time with worth of 79.2 billion US dollars.

- The United States with 536 rich people is at the top of the list, followed by China at 213 rich people, Germany at 103 rich people and India at 90 rich people.
- Carlos Slim Helu from Mexico telecommunications mogul worth 77.1 billion US dollars is ranked second and Chief of Berkshire Hathaway Inc, Warren Buffet was ranked third with 72.7 billion US dollars.
- Amancio Ortega, founder Inditex SA from Spain with 64.5 billion US dollars ranked fourth and Larry Ellison Chairman of Oracle Corp ranked fifth with 54.3 billion US dollars.
- Mark Zuckerberg founder of Facebook for the first time joined the top 20 and is at 16th rank. Michael Jordan joined the annual list for the first time.
Who has launched Customer Complaint Web Portal and Mobile Application - Union Railways Ministry
Among the important National Current Affairs, On 2nd March 2015, The Union Railways Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu launched a Mobile Application and Customer Complaint Web Portal. This portal and mobile App can be freely downloaded and will be useful to track the status of the complaints registered on this portal with the help of mobile App. The passengers who want to complain or make any suggestions may download the mobile App from www.coms.indianrailways.gov.in. The passengers can also file their complaints and suggestions on the same web page.
Charecterstics of Indian Railways Mobile App
- The Mobile application has been administered using Android 2.3.3 platform and will be available for Windows Phone 8.1.
- The app uses the latest technology namely HTML5, JavaScript, CSS3.1. The app is available on Google Play Store.
- Validations for PNR number, train number and station name are built into the application for user convenience.
- The Mobile App is connected to the Complaint Management portal of Indian Railways.
Which Program has been lauched by ECI - National Electoral Roll Purification and Authentication Programme
Among the important National Current Affairs, On 3rd March 2015, The Election Commission of India (ECI) launched National Electoral Roll Purification and Authentication Programme (NERPAP) all over India. The objective of the programme is to bring a total error-free and authenticated electoral roll.
About the Programme
- NERPAP will concentrate on improving image quality of electors along with sorting issues like corrections of errors etc.
- During the programme, Electronic Privacy Information Centre (EPIC) data of electors will be linked with Aadhar data of UIDAI for the purpose of authentication.
- Electors will be provided with the facility where they can feed their respective Aadhar number through sms, email, mobile application and National Voters Service Portal (NVSP) by using web services through election commission website.
- Voter Facilitation Centres, Special Camp, e-Seva centres and Citizen Service Centres authorised by the DEOs (District Magistrate) will be organized for the collection and feeding of Aadhar.
- Electoral Registration Officer will organize Nationwide special camps on 12 April 2015 to ensure maximum public participation.

At 68th session of The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) decided to declare 3 March as World Wildlife Day. 3rd March is the day of the adoption of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) in 1973.
Where did the World’s largest and tallest Indian flag unwinded - Faridabad
Among the important National Current Affairs, On 3rd March 2015, World’s largest and tallest Indian national flag was unwinded at Town Park in Faridabad, Haryana. The flag was unwinded by BJP president Amit Shah, Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor and Haryana CM ML Khattar. The dimension of the flag were 96 feet by 64 feet and weighs 48 kg. Flag was upheaved at the height of 250 feet (75 meters). Thus, making it the world’s largest and the highest hoisted Indian flag in the world. The event was organised by Nav Chetna Trust which is formed to work on social issues like Swachh Bharat Mission and beti Bachao Beti Padhao Campaign.
