Hashim Amla named as South Africa's new test cricket captain
Among the sports current affairs, On 3rd June 2014, Hashim Amla was appointed as new test captain of South African cricket team. He took place of Graeme Smith who retired in March 2014 after serving the test side of South African cricket for more than a decade.

AB de Villers was appointed as the vice-captain of the Test squad.

Israeli cabinet announced a series of resolutions against Palestinian Unity Government
On 2nd June 2014, Israel announced a series of resolutions against the new Palestinian Unity government, which is important news among international current affairs. The sanctions came in the wake of the swearing-in of Palestinian Unity Government on 2 June 2014. The new unity government was formed after reconciliation deal agreed between Fatah and Hamas.

The diplomatic security cabinet of Israel in its meeting at Jerusalem decided to continue the suspension of the negotiations with a Hamas-backed Palestinian government.
It also agreed to authorize Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to impose further sanctions against the Palestinian government.
Earlier on 1 June 2014, the Israeli cabinet agreed to impose economic sanctions against the Palestinian government, and reallocate tax money generated from these sanction to pay off the Palestinians debts to Israeli companies.
J&K Govt. raised retirement age of employees to 60
On 3rd June 2014, Jammu and Kashmir government announced the enhancement of the retirement age of government employees from 58 to 60 years. The cabinet also raised the upper age limit for youths to obtain government jobs from 37 to 40 years.
It also announced several other employee-friendly measures and pledged itself to redress their grievances. Besides, it also decided to absorb all temporary casual labourers and need-based workers who have completed 7-year of service into regular government services. The decision will benefit more than 60000 employees in Jammu and Kashmir.
Obama proposed billion dollar plan for eastern Europe
On 3rd June 2014, The US President Barack Obama proposed a 1 billion US dollar (about 730 million Euros) US security plan for Eastern Europe to finance extra US troop and military deployments to new allies in Eastern Europe, which is among important international current affairs.
This announcement was made during Obama's visit to Poland to attend the 25th anniversary of Poland's first free elections.
The security plan came in the backdrop of concerns and fears of West over the Ukraine crisis and the escalating pro-Russian uprising in ex-Soviet Union.

The pro-Russian insurgency in eastern region of Ukraine grew rapidly after 25 May 2014, the day on which, Poroshenko won the Ukrainian presidential election on a promise to end the fight and same the nation from economic collapse. The recent protest of the pro-Russian saw an attack on the Ukrainian border guard service camp in the Russian border region of Lugansk on 2 June 2014.
In his remarks, Obama said he expects Russia to undertake several actions to de-escalate the situation in eastern Ukraine, beyond moving its troops away from the border.
The U.S. proposal, to be included in an upcoming Pentagon spending request, would fund what the White House calls a "European Reassurance Initiative." It would be used to increase military personnel deployed to Eastern Europe, who would in turn assist with training and strategic planning.
