12th century royal palace hidden under prehistoric fortress at Old Sarum discovered by Archaeologists
On 3rd December 2014, One of the largest medieval royal palace of 12th Century buried under the ground inside a vast prehistoric fortress in Old Sarum was discovered by Archaeologists from the University of Southampton. A geophysical survey of the ancient monument was done by research team of students and academics.
This palace was discovered while mapping a long-vanished medieval city Old Sarum which is supposed to lain under grass on the site for more than 700 years.
Cheapest top-up health insurance plan launched by New India Assurance
On 1st December 2014, Largest health insurance provider New India Assurance (NIA) launched the cheapest top-up health insurance plan in the country.
It will be sold as an individual policy and also as a family floater plan where the sum insured is shared among all members of a family, in which Hospitalization expenses ranging from 15 lakh rupees to 20 lakh rupees can be availed for 3500 rupees a year for someone up to 44 years.
Deodhar Trophy of cricket 2014-15 bagged by East Zone
On 3rd December 2014, 2014-15 Deodhar Trophy of cricket was clinched by East Zone. East Zone defeated West Zone in finals by 24 runs.

Deodhar Trophy was named after Prof. DB Deodhar who is known as the Grand Old Man of Indian cricket which is played on an annual basis among the 5 zonal teams - North Zone, South Zone, East Zone, West Zone and Central Zone.
Asteroid explorer Hayabusa 2 launched by Japan to explore origin of earth
On 3rd December 2014, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) along with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries launched second-generation asteroid explorer Hayabusa 2. It was launched from Tanegashima Space Center in Japan's southwestern Kagoshima prefecture.
Hayabusa 2 will explore one of the C-type asteroids called 1999 JU3 in space, retrieve materials and bring them to Earth. It is expected that Hayabusa2 will reach the asteroid in mid-2018 and will return to earth in the late 2020.
