Railways, PEC sign MoU to set up - Kalpana Chawla Chair on Geospatial Technology
Among Important National Current Affairs, on 30 May 2016 to set up Kalpana Chawla Chair on Geospatial Technology for Indian Railways at the University, Ministry of Railways and PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
In the backdrop of 2016-17 Railway Minister Budget announcements the MoU was signed.
However, for the purpose, the Indian Railways is all set to provide a corpus of 10 Crore rupees to PEC University of Technology, for setting and to meet the running expenses of this chair.

• Main objective of Railway is to encourage research activities in Geo-spatial Technology.
• Also to strengthen Indian Railways especially Railway projects where use of remote sensing data, global positioning system (GPS) and Geographical information System (GIS) is predominant.
Who took charge as 23rd Navy Chief - Admiral Sunil Lanba
On 31 May 2016, Admiral Sunil Lanba took over as Chief of Naval Staff.
Sunil Lanba at the age of 58, a specialist in Navigation and Direction, will have the full three-year tenure as the Navy Chief.
Lanba succeeded Admiral RK Dhowan. However, Lanba is the 21st Indian to be the Navy Chief. The first two were British.

• Sunil Lanba is the present Chief of Naval Staff of the Indian Navy.
• Lanba’s previous appointments include Vice Chief of the Naval Staff, Flaf Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Western and Southern Naval Commands.
Draft Trafficking of Persons (Prevention, Protection and Rehabilitation) Bill 2016 released by – Maneka Gandhi
Among Important National Current Affairs, on 30 May 2016 Union Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi released the Draft Trafficking of Persons (Prevention, Protection and Rehabilitation) Bill 2016.
It aims to create a comprehensive law against trafficking of persons and is victim oriented. It makes clear the distinction between the trafficker and the trafficked.

• Bill main aim is to prevent trafficking of persons and to provide protection and rehabilitation to the victims of trafficking.
• Also it aims to create a legal, economic, and social environment against trafficking of persons and related matters.
In which country 42nd G7 Summit has been concluded - Japan
Among Important International Current Affairs, from 26 May to 27 May 2016, the 42nd G7 Summit was held at Ise-Shima in Japan for 2-days.
During this summit, the member countries discussed a wide range of major global economic and political challenges and approved the G7 Ise-Shima Leaders’ Declaration.
By the United Nations in September 2015, the summit assumed significance as it was the first one to be held after the adoption of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
