Name the scheme launched for online release of new LPG connections - SAHAJ
Among the important National Current Affairs, On 30th August 2015, SAHAJ scheme was launched by Union Government for online release of new LPG connections for the consumers. The scheme can be availed by the consumers through mylpg.in.
Currently, the scheme will be available in 13 cities of the country, namely Chennai, Hyderabad, Patna, Kolkata, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Pune, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Lucknow and Mumbai and within few days it will be launched in pan-India.
Online request for a new connection can be applied by the consumers after filing Know Your Customer (KYC) form, uploading photographs and bank account details with the help of this SAHAJ facility. The registration number will be received by the applicant ater the successfull submission to know the connection status.
Online or offline mode of payment for connection will also be provided by the facility. Electronic subscription voucher will be mailed to the customer and physical delivery of the Gas cylinder, regulator with hose pipe will be made by the distributor.
Which renowned neurologist and author has passed away - Oliver Wolf Sacks
On 30th August 2015, Renowned neurologist and author Oliver Wolf Sacks passed away in New York at the age of 82. Apart from a practitioner of neurology and an academician he was famous as the author of best-selling books on the grey matter like The Mind’s eye, Migraine, Awakenings etc.
His achievements and Contributionss
- His other amous writings are On the Move (his autobiography) and An Anthropoligist on Mars.
- In the year 2001, he was awarded the Lewis Thomas Prize for Writing about Science.
- From 1966 to 2007, he served as an instructor and later clinical professor of neurology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the USA.
- From 1992 to 2007, he worked at the New York University School of Medicine.
- In 1970, he released his first book named Migraine.
- In 1973, he released his second book Awakenings which gave an autobiographical account of his efforts to help people with encephalitis lethargica regain proper neurological function.

Earlier on 28th August 2015, Ankush won silver in the 38 kg women freestyle for India at SARAJEVO.

On 30th August 2015, The veteran Kannada writer and former vice-chancellor of Kannada University Dr Malleshappa Madivalappa Kalburgi was shot dead at his residence in Dharwad.
In 2006 he was awarded with the Sahitya Akademi award for Marga which is a collection of his research articles. He had spoken openly against idolatry in Hinduism in support of another Kannada writer UR Ananthamurthy in 2014.

Who has won Pro Kabaddi League 2015 - U Mumba
Among the important Sports Current Affairs, On 24th August 2015, the Pro Kabaddi League 2015 title was won by U Mumba after defeating Bengaluru Bulls. U Mumba was led by Anup Kumar.
U Mumba won a cash prize of 1 crore rupees as the winners whereas the Bengaluru Bulls won 50 lakh rupees.

Who is appointed as Union Home secretary - Rajiv Mehrishi
Among the important appointments, On 31st August 2015, Rajiv Mehrishi, 1978 batch IAS of Rajasthan cadre, was appointed as the Union Home secretary. He was given an extension of two-year. He has replaced LC Goyal who is an IAS officer of 1979 batch of Kerala cadre.
He was serving as the Finance Secretary at the time of appointment. He is the third Home Secretary of the present NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Who has won women's marathon at World Athletics Championships - Ethiopia's Mare Dibaba
Among the important Sports Current Affairs, On 30th August 2015, the women's marathon title at the 2015 World Athletics Championships held at the Beijing National Stadium, China was won by Mare Dibaba of Ethiopia and became the first Ethiopian female to win the event at the world championships.
She finished the race with a time of 2 hours, 27 minutes and 35 seconds by deffeating Helah Kiprop of Kenya, who won the silver medal by completing the marathon in a time of 2 hours 27 minutes and 36 seconds.
The bronze medal was won by Eunice Kirwa of Bahrain after completing it in 2 hours 27 minutes and 39 seconds.
‘Protection of Manipur People Bill, 2015’ was passed by - Manipur Legislative Assembly
On 31st August 2015, Manipur Legislative Assembly with one accord passed the Protection of Manipur People Bill, 2015. Two other amendment bills namely the Manipur Land Revenue and Land Reforms (Seventh Amendment) Bill, 2015 and the Manipur Shops and Establishments (Second Amendment) Bill, 2015 were also passed by the House.
State Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh was supposed to moved the Protection of Manipur People Bill, 2015 for consideration and passage. While the two other bills were moved by Revenue Minister Thoudam Debendra and Labour Minister Irengbam Hemochandra respectively.
A resolution welcoming the Peace Accord signed between the Union Government and the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN)-IM was also passed by the house. The resolution was moved by Chief Minister Ibobi Singh.
While moving the resolution the Chief Minister said, Manipur is a mini India and the fresh initiative of the Union Government and the NSCN (IM) to bring peace in the north eastern India is welcomed by all.
He further said that the state government requested the Union Government about the details of the Accord to remove the apprehension of the people of the state to which the Centre has replied that it is only a framework.
