    Pankaj Advani won IBSF 6-Red World Snooker title in Egypt

     On 29th June 2014, the Indian cueist Pankaj Advani won his maiden IBSF 6-Red World snooker title at Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt. To win the title, he defeated Kacper Flilpiak of Poland.  Pankaj Advani created a history of being the first player in the world to win world titles in the long and shorter formats of both billiards and snooker. For Advani, this was maiden 6-Red World title and ninth overall. 

    This win also took, Advani to highest tally of world titles by any Indian cueist in the Open (Men's) category.

    He won his first world title at the age of 18 and is only Asian to have ever won both the Billiards and Snooker World Championships.

    PSLV C23 launched successfully from Sriharikota, carrying five satellites

    On 30th June ISRO's PSLV C23 was launched from Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh at 9.52 am. The PSLV C23 carried five satellites. Important to note that none of satellite was of India, These five satellite were belonging to four countries namely France, Germany, Canada and Singapore. It was big leap in space by India. 

    All these five satellites were launched under commercial arrangements that ANTRIX (ISRO's commercial arm) has entered with the respective foreign agencies.

    Till date, ISRO has launched 35 satellites of foreign countries onboard its workhorse, the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV).

    West Bengal Governor MK Narayanan resigned

     On 30th June 2014, Governor of West Bengal MK Narayanan tendered his resignation to the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee. Narayanan's resignation came within a week after being questioned by the CBI as a witness in connection with its probe into 3600-crore rupees VVIP chopper from Anglo-Italian firm AgustaWestland.  

    He was questioned because he was the national security adviser to the Prime Minister at the time of the chopper deal.  

    He is an IPS officer of the 1955 batch and from 1987 to 1992, he was IB Director and His tenure as a Governor was supposed to end on 15th January 2015.
