    Roger Federer wins Men’s Singles title  in- Australian Open 2018

    World’s No. 2 Swiss tennis player Roger Federer has kept his Men’s Singles title by winning Australian
    Open 2018. In the top clash played at Melbourne, he beat, World no. 6 Croatia’s Marin Cilic in 5 sets 6-2, 6-7, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.  It was Federer’s 6th Australian Open title and overall 20th Grand Slam singles titles. With this, he enters elite group of Margaret Court, Serena Williams and Steffi Graf who have grabbed 20 or more Grand Slam singles titles.

    NASA interested in India-made thermal spray coating technology for - Gas turbine Engine

    National Aeronautics and Space Administration is intended in new India-made thermal spray coating
    technology utilised for gas turbine engine in spacecraft.
    It has been evolved by Dr. Satish Tailor, a researcher based at Rajasthan working with Jodhpur-based
    Metallizing Equipment Company.
    Key Facts

    • The technology is known as controlled segmented Yttria-Stabilised Zirconia- Plasma sprayed coating technology. It has prospective to reduce thermal spray coating price by almost 50 percent.
    • It develops vertical segmentation in coating, worthwhile for gas turbine engine application utilised in spacecraft.
    • The new technology has benefits over present, costly technologies like SPS or EB-PVD deposited
      coatings.
    • These current techniques develop such cracks through most expensive processes procedures
      and are not controllable.
    • The YSZ thermal barrier coatings formed by atmospheric plasma sprayed technology has prospective of wider industrial and strategic tolerance. It can be industrially accepted to make a strain-tolerant coating more inexpensive.

    Thermal Spray Coating Technology

    Thermal spray coating mentions to number of procedures in which substrate is coated to enhance
    functional performance. It consists of the deposition of coatings from stream of high momentum finely
    divided particles in molten or semi-molten form impinging onto the substance.  

    These coatings have variety of thickness from thousandth of inch up to 8th of inch. Thermal spray coatings are utilised to safeguard parts from wear, corrosion, high temperatures, abrasion etc. and also to manufacture dimensions on under-sized parts. 

    Mission One Click for 30 types of scholarship distribution launched by - MP state government

    The MP state government has launched a Mission One Click scheme to distribute the 30 kinds of scholarship in schools. The government has formed School Education Department as a nodal department for online distribution of 30 kinds of scholarship of eight Government departments of the state through Samagra Education web portal.
    With this system, the profiles of one crore forty-eight lakh students of all government and private educational institutions of the state have now become online. 
    Thus, the distribution of scholarships has been assured.
    Main Focus

    • In the student’s profile, every student’s caste, BPL status, parents’ profession, annual income of the family, hostel status and past year’s exam result of the student is contained in the web portal.
    • Forwarding the plan of direct benefit, all students from Class 1-12 have been issued the funds for 30 types of scholarships, uniform and laptops, cycle distribution etc. directly into their accounts.
    • Earlier, there were objections of irregularities in scholarships and the similar student taking admission in 2 different educational institutions. Now scholarship transfer is being linked to their Aadhar.
    • Impact With a Unique of identification of each student in Mission One Click, duplication of scholarships will be stopped.
    • Simplification of the procedure of distribution of 30 kinds of scholarship of eight departments.
    • Transparent, guaranteed and updated information available on the web portal.
      Samagra Education Portal

    To finish the online registration of students, Samagra Shiksha Portal- National Information Centre has been formed after mapping with student’s school dice code related to the Samagra Unique identification of students of every school.

    Khelo India Pledge Launched at Khelo India School Games Carnival starting from - 31st January 2018

    Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has initiated Promise for Khelo India at Khelo India School Games
    Carnival in Delhi. The promise resonates with vision of Khelo India program and is focused at inspiring
    youth to made mass participation and excellence in sports. It also is assuring to participant and boosts
    sportsmanship spirit.
    Khelo India School Games

    • Khelo India School Games was initiated under Khelo India Program.
    • It was organized at various venues across Delhi from January 31st to February 8th, 2018.
    • It enclosed 16 sports disciplines under which overall 199 gold badges, 199 silver badges, 275 bronze badges, to were distributed.
    • It focused at creating platform to showcase unseen talent, fostering youth sports prodigies and spreading awareness and awareness about physical fitness and better health amongst youth.
      Khelo India program
    • The Khelo India Program was initiated in 2016 for making inclusive and comprehensive sports
      environment in nation. It focuses at infusing sports into the daily lives of youth early on in their lives.
    • It subsumed earlier 3 different plans into one namely, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan, Urban Sports
      Infrastructure Scheme and National Sports Talent Search Scheme.

     Indian, Vietnam holding first military exercise in Jabalpur  from - 29th Januray 2018 to 3rd February 2018

    The India-Vietnam Bilateral Army Exercise- VINBAX-2018 was organised at Jabalpur in Madhya
    Pradesh. It is the 1st military exercise between the 2 nations. The 6 day-long military exercises from
    January 29th to February 3rd, 2018 were organised as part of joint training undertaken with friendly
    foreign nations by Indian Army.
    Important Points

    • VINBAX-2018 was Table Top Exercise to carry out training for Peace Keeping Operations under United Nations regulations. It was jointly undertaken between 15 officials each from Indian Army and Vietnam People’s Army.
    • The joint action was especially formed to enable and train officers from Vietnam in UN Peace Keeping Programs.
    • The joint action was of mutual interaction and shared experiences amongst both armies.
    • It also further fortified cultural and historical relations between both countries and took bilateral relations forward to significant heights.

      coordination in the maritime domain.
