Miss Universe 2017 title won by - Miss France Iris Mittenaere
On 30th January 2017, Iris Mittenaere of France was crowned with Miss Universe 2016 title at Asia Arena, Pasay, Metro Manila, Philippines.
She was crowned by last year winner Pia Wurtzbach of the Philippines. Miss Haiti Raquel Pélissier was first runner up while Miss Columbia Andrea Tovar was named as second runner up.

On 30th January 2017, Union Home Ministry appointed Amulya Kumar Patnaik as new Delhi Police Commissioner, He will be succeeding Alok Kumar Verma as Alok Kumar Verma has been appointed as Director of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Amulya Kumar Patnaik is 1985 batch Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT) cadre IPS officer.

On 25th January 2017, The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully tested indigenously developed Cryogenic Upper Stage for GSLV Mk III rocket. It is scheduled to launch GSAT-19 during first quarter of 2017.
